I liked the cleaning I got the first time I went. But then when I was going to go back for my second cleaning of the year they wanted to take all the X-rays again as if I was a brand new patient. (I have great insurance and still I was going to need to pay out of pocket a significant amount) I think they just up charge you for unnecessary things. My husband got a diagnosed that was going to be around $800 apart for what our insurance cover then we went to see someone else and it was covered same with me. They didn’t charge me anything in the other place I went the insurance covered everything. Beware.
I grew up in El Paso, and I've recently moved back to El Paso with my own family. I knew the Kimball name as being trustworthy, honest, and fair in all their dealings, which is why I chose Westside Dentistry for our new dentist. A couple of weeks ago, I had a very positive experience with the female dentist for my son and chose to come back for my own check-up and cleaning. My appointment was scheduled for the same afternoon, and I didn't mind waiting when I saw they were busy. The X-ray tech and the male dentist who made his recommendations were very nice and professional. I was told after a couple of hours that they didn't have enough time to do my cleaning but I could come back and do that with rest of the treatment plan. This is where my experience took a turn for the worst.
When I sat down with the billing person (female) near the front desk, she reviewed the plan and informed me that I needed to pay out of pocket for a "deep cleaning" because the hygienist indicated that I had "gingivitis and deep pockets". After having her check to make sure she had the correct patient I informed her that I hadn't even seen the hygienist today. She informed me that the assistant would speak to me to "explain". Then the dental assistant spoke to me as if I was clueless continuing to insist on the diagnosis based now on my x-rays and not on the examination. The dentist returned at my request and did a physical examination and agreed that I did not have gingivitis or deep pockets that would require a deep cleaning.
It was clear after the next interactions with the billing person and dental assistant that the two of them and possibly the dishonest hygienist, that they were all backing each other up on their dishonesty.
The final straw was insisting after just scheduling the treatment plan for a later date that I now pay 30% of the treatment up front before any services were rendered. When I questioned that I was met with a snotty and condescending attitude from the billing person, "Didn't you read the paper?"..."That's our policy." Then she quickly said "oh do you want to cancel now". I spoke to the dentist again, who the assistant described as "just an associate dentist," I explained why i cancelled and the billing person poked her head in the room to tell me I was dismissed and told the dentist to go back to his other patients. Wow! Not exactly what I expected from the Kimball name.
Not sure now that I trust that my once per year x-rays will be forwarded to my new dentist or that the billing will be honestly sent to my Insurance provider. Sad!
Skilled and professional staff from the Dr. (Dr. Williams), the assistants/hygienists down to the front desk staff who will even have some knowledge of your treatment plan. There are also finance/insurance specialists. Very helpful.
Highly recommend! I just moved to El Paso and needed to find a new dentist for my routine cleaning. From the moment I called to schedule an appointment, I knew this was where I wanted to go. Melissa, at the front desk, was extremely nice and very helpful. My dental hygienist was very sweet, gentle but efficient, and did a great job. Dr. Kimball was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, the experience was wonderful!
Dr. Kahn and Chris were absolutely amazing with my son. My son is young and was not fully cooperative. They were both extremely patient and caring towards him. With older children I have been to my fair share of pediatric dentists, I have finally found their permanent dental office.
This place is terrible they did not bill my insurance correctly because I have dual coverage and want me to pay. They always have new staff who do not know what they are doing. Be careful they will make you pay more than you are supposed to pay. Question everything they tell you or you will end up with a bill you shouldn’t have.
It is not that I didn’t understand my coverage it’s that your office staff refused to submit the claim and did not respond to the insurance request for more information and as Erica said she want me to pay for it and will not work with my insurance to give then the information they need. I called with my insurance company on the line so they could make sure to pay what is needed and I would pay my portion because the amount was not correct and she hung up ok us.
First time my daughter sat for the whole visit and didn’t cry the staff was amazing! Chris did a great job brushing her teeth and making sure she felt comfortable. We love it here!

I had an amazing experience at Westside Dentistry! They promptly scheduled me when I first had trouble, and two weeks later, my issue was resolved and healed. I was extremely scared of dentists, so I was worried about going in, but it turned out to be a very pleasant experience, and now I feel differently. Westside Dentistry made me feel safe, and I'm incredibly grateful. I will definitely be recommending them to family and friends in the future!
