This entire clinic and Westmed in general is terrible. It’s impossible to call the doctor’s office directly and your only choice is to leave a message with the call center or through the online portal. I always wait 45+ minutes for my appointments, even if I schedule them early in the morning and come 20 minutes early. Multiple times doctors have forgotten to order lab tests for me so I either show up and am not able to take a test at the lab or I don’t find out I missed a test until my next appointment. After an ultrasound I was told I could leave and right after I left the doctor’s office called and asked where I went. This is a large bureaucratic practice where you get lost and there is no true sense of care provided. Extremely disorganized and chaotic and you feel you have to be your own doctor and advocate.
A message was left for me with a number to reschedule an appointment as the Dr wasnt going to be in. When I call back the call center can’t reschedule. This is why many people are leaving these “mall” doctors and going to concierge medicine. You can speak to a Dr, get test results or schedule appointments without taking a day off from work to manage through their broken system. The response- they will leave a message, which will bring me to this phone tag again as they will call when I am working and can’t pick up the phone. They can change the name from Westmed to Athena and then summitt, it doesn’t matter, they all have no concern for actually providing service to their patients.
I have been seeing a physician here for about 7 years. He has been quite thorough. I go every 6 months. I schedule my appointments via the portal and I show up on time. Sometimes there is a brief wait. Other times no. I have experienced a couple of billing issues throughout the years, which I straightened out, quickly, again, via the portal.
No major issues.
This place needs to be redesigned. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you are in the middle of the overflow of people waiting for Urgent Care. Those are people needing to see a doctor, shoulder to shoulder. You must walk through this brood to get to information desk. Have we not learned from Covid???
Is Westmed have any sense? You come for your Annual check up, see the doctor but then you have to take another appointment for all the labs they ordered? Are this people out of their mind? Then what do they mean by Annual check up??? Can someone explain to me please. I guess we should just message your pcp on the app and then book the appointment only for labs. 2 visits?? For what ?? And Yes the lab section receptionists have no hospitality. Please train your employees. Do they have a new management that makes things worse ?
I was under the care of a specialist who also served as my primary care doctor. I realized that I hadn’t been called for my annual physical which I always schedule for the following year the day of my physical. When I called to find out what happened they tell me that I don’t have an appointment in the system and I also learn that my doctor is no longer there. No phone call, no e-mail, no text. Now I’m having to try and find a new specialist to act as my primary care physician and to deal with issues that I’m having currently . I used to really like this place, but this is so unprofessional and uncaring for their patients.
Parking for an appointment sometimes takes longer then expected. Give yourself extra time. If you are going to Radiology, make sure your imaging machines are fully working before your appointment time. Very frustrating.
Over booking just puts stress on Doctors and their PA's, so be prepared to wait. Mondays are always crowded and if you need Urgent Care, they are only by Appointment.That too is not a positive in my book.
Overall, 210 Westchester Ave, is the most busy of all the locations, check and see if your Doctor goes to at 3030 Westchester Ave or Ridge Hill in Yonkers.
Another rule is you cannot bring a Partner or extra person with you to these appointments. I understand why but that's 4 Stars. Many people rely on the support of family or friends and need that. That person must wait in the car or perhaps at the Cafe.
West med is the worst practice in Westchester, there is no way to get in touch with anyone and the wait time at the blood draw downstairs is ridiculous. Would highly avoid this practice given so many better practices around.
