this facility high risk for safety/security and supervisors don't care if travel nurses got hurt or injured. if such could happen to contractors how much more the locals?
a few days ago, i've been missing an issued set of keys which led me to see the information center to borrow temporary keys for me to get to work
and function on my job as a nurse (contractor travel nurse.).
after a few days of borrowing keys, the supervisor of the information center finally faced up with me on November 13, wednesday, and told me that i had to
secure my keys and that this would be the last day, she would let me borrow the keys. I agreed and went ahead to the security department, per her
instruction, however, the people in charge were not present, and a nice lady gathered information from me which she said she
would relay to her boss through a sticky note.
the next day, thursday, i went to security and was directed to make payment on the 2nd floor, however, the payment department does not accept credit/debit card or personal check, only
cash. the lady in charge said she would call and coordinate with the information center supervisor to grant me "the last time" of temporary keys, so i can get to work,
i went back to the information center and the supervisor said she had talked to the payment department but she will still not issue me keys.
since this is a safety/risk issue for me, fellow staff, and the entire unit, I went to the nursing department, hoping that the nursing directors, the nurse supervisor, could help me. I was able to talk to the nurse director in charge
and he gathered information, he went to see the information center supervisor. moments later, he came back to see me and said No. So i went to the bank and drive away from the facility to get cash, and when i came back,
payment center at the hospital was already closed. so I work on that day without keys which compromises the safety of the entire unit. in the middle of my work, i once stopped by the information center again and pleaded
to get temporary keys, but they refused. i wrote a letter to the director of the WSH on that day. the next day Friday, i was able to make payment and secured keys, and managed to get to work, up to the last hour, when
supervisors came to my workplace and escorted me out of the facility, and asked me to surrender keys and badges. stay safe, don't work in this facility.
Do not bother working here if you are a travel nurse. This place is honestly the most pathetic facility I have encountered in my entire career. They state to be the facility that is the " Gold standard" for psych care, but its more in line with a "trash standard". They disrespect and bully new employees that they don't take a liking too. I saw my entire cohort of travel nurses disappear within the first 2 weeks of employement. if you wish to protect your career and your license, don't bother taking a contract here. The management is so incompetant and clueless to anything that actually goes on in the hospital. I would be terrified to work here.
For patients, the quality of care isn’t amazing but it’s also not the worst. There are many people in the hospital who sincerely care about the patients and do everything in their power to help. That being said it is a psych hospital and nursing staff, who are constantly attacked and threatened by patients, do eventually reach a state of empathy burnout and don’t always have a great attitude towards patients. There are also some exceptionally rude staff who have managed to avoid being fired just because there aren’t many people that would decide to work under the conditions. Understaffing is a constant issue, with some shifts being around 60%. There are many reasons for the hospital being understaffed but the main reason, in my opinion, is members of the nursing staff constantly being sent to ER (at times a daily thing ). It’s unsafe and really the only way for things to be more safe is for there to be more staff, so the hospital just bounces between understaffed and unsafe to well staffed and reasonably safe as the months go by.
Like others have stated, this leads to literally anyone getting hired. It’s ironic, that one of the people who recently left a comment complaining about it was someone who was let go for inappropriate relations with a patient. Another reviewer was let go for sexual harassment of female staff and patients. But that’s not to say all the negative reviews are just bitter people who were let go. All lot of the negative concerns around the hospital are well warranted. Management seems to not care and only offer lip service when concerns of the well being of both the patients and nursing staff are brought up. There’s always the scape goat of bureaucratic hold ups and “we would help if we could” but that grows old eventually.
Overall this hospital is about on par, or maybe a little better than comparable institutions. Many patients end up there because there is simply no other facility that can handle them. If you are looking for a hospital to send your loved one to, a private facility that has stipulations that they only take no violent patients would likely be able to give them a higher quality of care because of the difficulties that arise when staff have to constantly fear for their safety.
Great beds but nurses and drs are mean and Jesus is always there asking for money... I heard Fred Herbert stayed their for mouths
If you working here I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but this trash establishment ain’t one. All jokes aside, don’t work here if you value human decency. Your better off taking a shift at McDonald’s LOL
Great place for patients i struggled with mental illness for years and years committed in different institutions but finally when I arrived here in 2015 they were very helpful changed my life got me on the right medication and everything is good I just wished that I could of thanked the staff they were very helpful
Nice Hospital but a man claiming to be Jesus stole my Fanta when I walked in
There is justice, restoration, forgiveness. Peacemaking doesn't mean passivity. It is the act of interrupting Injustice without mirroring injustice, the act of disarming evil without destroying the evildoer, the act of finding a third way that is neither fight nor flight but the careful, ardous pursuit of reconciliation and justice. It is about a revolution of love that is big enough to set both the oppressor and the oppressed free.
