Best WLM Reviews
First visit here. Not like the old school Western Sizzlin I remember but very impressed with the food. We ordered burgers and fries. Did not try the buffet. Staff was super friendly including our waiter. Sweet tea was good also. Building was very dated and run down. But can over look that for a good meal.
The staff is very friendly. That's the best thing about this place. The restaurant is old and worn out looking.
While I can't speak for the things on the menu board, like steaks, most of the food on the buffet was old and dried out looking. Except for the fried chicken. It was the best thing on the entire buffet! Fresh, hot and tasty!
The desserts were adequate. But the precut servings of cake and pie were teeny.
We paid 15.99 for each adult for buffet at 6 pm. Granted, there were a lot of items to choose. From fried chicken, fried catfish, BBQ ribs, etc. I had some shrimps but didn’t like it, they were very mushy and didn’t think they were fresh. The dinner area was relatively small, I had to cramp up in my chair between tables. They provided disposable gloves for you to go get food. The buffet can definitely fill you up and leave with a full stomach; however, it won’t be my first choice to eat here.
When I first started selling insurance at working for that company. I used to eat here every week. But now I work from home. I eat here rarely. Today me And my wife stop by. The food was OK. But when you look at the picture I posted. The fish stripped on the right was the one at the buffet the one to the left was brought to us by our server. We asked if we could some fish that was not fried hard, and she brought us back a plate of fish that was perfect. The fish she brought back to us was 500% better than on the buffet. So if you eat here, tip your server an ask if they could bring you back fish the way you like it.
17 dollars a person and boy howdy this place is disgusting. Dollar store frozen food and they can't even get it up to a safe temperature. The plates were not even clean with caked on food clearly visible. Out of the maybe 15 things the buffet actually offers 8 of them are salad. The rolls are good.
Very busy, but for good reason. Don't be intimidated by the parking, once you go in it's fast and friendly pay as you walk in. Buffet, or you can order a steak and side. Self seating, the servers work very hard so be patient. Soul food at its finest, amazing employees and food.
I very seldom leave bad reviews. A lot of times, when you go to a restaurant, it's really a matter of personal taste. But I'm taking a moment to warn people away from the Western sizzlin wood grill. I say with no hyperbole that it was truly one of the worst experiences with restaurant food that I have ever had. Quite simply, nothing was good. I tried fish, chicken, beef, all bad like it was cooked in very old oil. Baked items were very stale and hard. Vegs were tolerable at best. Frankly, The only thing I didn't have a negative experience there with was the machine made ice cream cone. Pretty pathetic. The staff was generally friendly. But I felt sorry for them working in such a horrible location. Things are very worn and seemingly neglected, such as tears in the seating upholstery, broken fixtures, dirty walls, and peeling paint. I walked away shaking my head in disbelief in how bad food could really be. And none of the rest of it was enough to make up for it. I wouldn't eat here again if I had not eaten for 3 days. Btw, we were there promptly at dinner time, not between meals or late in the night.
During my dining experience i was brought out 3 steaks. The first was a ribeye that was gray with no flavor but was cooked medium rare, all it need was to be seasoned and thrown back on the hot part of the grill to sear. It hadn't been seared but cooked on a cold part of the grill. The 2nd and 3rd steaks looked like maybe sirloin steaks cooked well done. Second one was like shoe leather. Third steak was a little better, I ate part of it and brought the rest home ending up feeding it to my dog. Server and manager were great, did everything they could to make it good. They need someone in the kitchen checking orders before they go out. After all when you pay $30 for a meal, you expect it to be right. I will never order a steak there again. Expected better at a Western Sizzlin Steak House.
