Visited Western Proper for a birthday trip with friends. The server was so awesome! She kept up with the nearly 30 of us. Always checking in on if we needed refills or anything else.
She made great suggestions on drinks and food.
We very much enjoyed the waffle truffle fries, and placed a second order. The Jam burger was also ridiculously good! If you enjoy savory sweet combinations, it's a good choice.
Our group also enjoyed bowling and playing air hockey. This was a very fun spot I hope to enjoy again.
American-style restaurant and bar in downtown Boise offering lounging areas, bowling, air hockey, and arcade games. They offer indoor and outdoor seating.
Really cool place - it is deep inside and decently sized. They don't have a huge food menu though, service was meh, and food was mediocre. I feel like this place is trying to sell itself on just their ambiance and activities alone.
Cool place to come for drinks. Food does not seem to be the big focus.
Drinks are good. Beer is great.
For food, I'll say 'for me' the offerings were light and the delivery was just so so. Next time I think we would plan to eat beforehand and just enjoy the drinks here.
The burger, for example, was not substantial for a $16 price tag.
Attended during an event where a company rented out the bowling and game area. We were able to use all of the games and bowling for free. The food provided was very good. Waffle fries with amazing garlic dressing and cheese. Large seasoned breaded shrimp. Cheesy Artichoke dip. Grilled chicken and steak. An assortment of veggies and nacho toppings. The seating around the gay area is very nice furniture and standing tables. The only minor complaint was there wasn't very much staff provided to order drinks. For about 40 people they only had one staff member coming around getting drink orders. You were able to go up to the bar to order though.
My wife and I went here for Fathers Day. It is a nice place but maybe designed for a generation younger than us ????. The food was good - I had a biscuit & gravy topped with fried chicken. My wife had a brisket ‘benie’ topped with a tomatillo sauce. Hers was very good - better than mine. My biscuit was like a hockey puck but the gravy was good. The inside is very nice and made for the younger crowd - games & noise!
We love Western Proper, great place to meet family and friends. Great food and service, the drinks did come out slow, but not an issue for us. Great bloody Mary.... Not too much tomato juice, great flavor, rimmed with black pepper and plenty of olives, cheese, bacon, carrots, celery, banana pepper and lots more. All of the drinks were great!! The food was incredible!! Our group split meals... Excellent!!! Do yourself a favor and go hang out.

Great happy hour buy one get one (????????????????) cocktails, beer and wine, $10 burgs and cheap apps with with generous servings. The real highlight of our most recent visit and the reason I decided to review was our server, Bella. She was WILDLY knowledgeable about the menu and was able to distinguish gf vs celiac safe dishes without having to check with kitchen, which is ???????? for a celiac and also so rare. She made great recos, was so polite, genuine, and personable. 100% Bella made our visit and we'll be back because of her incredible service.
I would also like to be clear I do not know Bella, but I have managed restaurants, and been in the industry 12+ years and she really is a gem!
Had a great family date night with girlfriend and my sister and her husband and son. Food was good and decent pricing. Would be a fun regular date night with food drinks and games. The mini bowling was a kick in the pants. Also a lot of general couch seating for hanging out and just having drinks and chatting with out the dim noisy bar feel.
