Recently I stayed at the Western Inn South with a group of college students as we traveled through Nebraska. We picked the hotel because it fell within our budget, but we were super impressed by the service. Bob, the sweet man who owns the hotel was very accommodating and appreciative of our business. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone driving through Kearney who is looking to stay on budget but still receive amazing customer service!
This is your typical 2-star roadside motel; but, is FAR better than most! The room was exactly as expected for this type of motel; but, extremely clean (including the smell of bleach) with a few more upscale items, like quartz counter tops & a pretty comfortable mattress. There was also an actual warm blanket included in the bed clothes, which alot don't have anymore. The pillows were awful!! It took 3 to make anything resembling a normal pillow. The man who checked me in was friendly and fairly quick, & the location felt safe, which was very important as a female traveling alone.
For a one night stay, this was very affordable & comfortable. They even have a continental breakfast.
I recently stayed at a charming hotel in Kearney owned by the delightful Bob. The personal touch he adds to the experience is truly remarkable. The cozy atmosphere, combined with Bob’s warm hospitality, made my stay memorable. Highly recommend this hidden gem!
Rude old guy at desk. Says he's a dog hater. He smelled worse than my dogs. He claimed my DL was fake. I stayed at Choice for less than what the dirty old guy quoted.
The room overall was very clean. I reserved a king room. The bed was a full size and very outdated very squeaky. The owner gave me the creeps. I've never had to leave a cash deposit incase of room damage. The morning of checkout their register did not even have money in it to return to me. My #1 dislike of this hotel is that it was advertised as having a pool. They do not and I never would have stayed there knowing that. Parking lot and room felt unsafe.
The rooms are very clean, and quiet.
The man at the front desk was not very happy about my service dog and refused to let us stay there more than a night. I asked about weekly rates and he said because I have the dog I would only be staying one night. I was so tired from the drive I didn't feel like educating him on the American with disabilities act. So I let it go.
The outside of the motel isn't much to look at but the rooms were very nice.
I came here with some reservations after reading the reviews. It was after midnight and we just needed a place to stay the night while driving through. The owner was kind of grumpy at first and asked me if my credit card was good. (He must have had issues in the past) The room was mostly updated except the comforter and very clean. The breakfast was standard and not super skimpy, like other people said. The owner and (his wife I am guessing?) came out and talked to us while we were eating breakfast and were very nice. I would totally come here again if I was passing through.
