Best WLM Reviews
Although there many problems with the age of the facility, the location is perfect for people who enjoy farmland. If you stay in 4-8, you will have a great view. Also 20's face the pond to the west.
Some of us are not necessarily interested in what the room looks like, how the windows are, or if the lamp shades are old!
The manager is very concerned about the people and the perception of the Motel.
This is a homeless shelter, not clean not safe for yourself,or your belongings your privacy will be invaded poor management this place is a hazard no phone service no Internet the police are always there for something
We have stayed at this motel 6 yrs ago and then again 5 years ago. Although the motel is old it was at that time quite clean and well kept. So when we had to go visit family this past weekend we figured we’d stay here again.Boy oh boy what a mistake !!!!! Our room had no storm door on it the door frame itself was broken . it looked like it had been broken into and never repaired, the small window to the left of the door was missing a screen. Once inside , ugh damp smell , old lampshades on lights that were quite beat up ,no handles on dresser drawers musty smell to rug and the shower was disgusting. screen and window in bathroom didn’t open should have read reviews that this place appears to now be used as temporary housing for down and out folks which is fine but if you as a business owner are going to continue to rent out to the public CLEAN and REPAIR the rooms you are renting out. we will not be staying there again which is so disappointing because it’s actually a good location near our family.
Manger is the rudest disrespectful person ive ever met. She is also scamming the government, claiming she has rooms available, but when you get there, they dont have anything available but still take the voucher from the government. We stayed 1 night out of the 3 the government paid for. Then we were told my service dog wasn't welcome even though all animals are welcome. Then, I asked for papers which illegal since 2011 in vt papers are not required, and they can 2 questions is that service dog and what service do they provide. She asked for my disability which is also illegal. The room had exposed electrical wires and outlets, the microwave blew the circut ever 2 mins and we couldn't even bathe simce there was no shower head or plans to put it in. Seems to be family occupied by white trash and junkies. Also nosey tenants will be trying to see into your room and butt into your business there is no privacy. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
It's quiet and peaceful. You don't hear the traffic while in room. Beds are a bit loud and springy. But over all, the location is great and people are nice.
Absolutely love this place. Incredible peaceful rural setting. Not fancy...almost shabbychic, but more country comfy. Don't go there if you want to be impressed by four star hotel amenities. It's charm is in its quietude and simplicity. Not suggested for people who need perfection! If you need absolutely level sidewalks due to medical infirmities, pay more money and go somewhere else. The bucolic views are delicious. 300 year old lodging location. Revolutionary troops from 1770s stayed on the property.
High end New Yorkers will hate the place. This is not for them. The owner is allergic to cats, so no cats allowed.
Being a Bennington native that has since moved out of state my fiancé and my kids and I came back for a family event and booked two rooms online at the west road motel. This place use to be a thriving business. Had a cute cafe and was very well kept. What we pulled up to looked like something from the walking dead. Unkempt lawn lots of weeds and weirdos all over the place. Our room was ok but the room for the kids stunk. And with in five minutes some little brat ran his bike into our rental leaving a large scratch. My oldest daughter and fiancé were like hell no! Went to the office and got a refund. The next hotel we went to in town that saved our asses told us that the west road is now section 8 housing and is like a half way house for people getting out of jail. Under no circumstances do you book here!!!!! I strongly suggest the Bennington motor inn and the Hampton inn they really took care of us. But do not go to the west road it’s a nightmare!!!
This motel is way past it's prime. It needs a lot of work to make it a desirable place to stay overnight. The tub was peeling and looked dirty and just awful. I put down an old disposable cloth so we could step into it. The wallpaper is peeling off, the lamp shades are in tatters, the refrigerator had not been defrosted in many months. The window did not open. It is creepy. ||||We were definitely overcharged to be staying in such a place. I notice that today's price is $20 less, which is still too much just to "try to sleep" there. There are signs that say "if you stay longer than 15 minutes, you will not get your money back"--what an attitude; that does not even give one time to look at the room and go back to the office to complain. While we were trying to check in, the lady resident manager spent her time on the phone to someone important (maybe it was her doctor) but she should have had another way to check people in without just handing us a paper to fill out with no greeting at all. ||||There was no tea, just a couple of packets of coffee and the lady resident manager said that her boss did not provide tea. She said she would find some from her own cupboard, but that did not happen. We checked for bugs and it seemed okay. The sheets seemed clean. The faucets are reversed so one gets hot water instead of cold. There are people living there full time that seem to be low income and need some help. We felt sorry for them to be there.
