Welcome to the West Clinic. Located in the great city of Germantown, Tn. While you may hear great things and the center piece in the building makes you seem at ease. This place is not what it seems. They are herding cattle in here. Well that’s what it seems like at least. In this building everything is held against you if you are not on time at check in. But the nurses, doctors etc are always a minimum of 45 minutes behind. Don’t you worry, if the clinic opens late the nurses do not inform you. They will however yell to all patients and inform you that they know they are behind. While doing nothing to help the issue at hand. This is not a once in a while event. Beware, this is an every day event. As a patient you can expect massive delays, poor communication and quite possibly the sharing of your information. So plan accordingly. This place sends patient information to the wrong patients. Yes, you heard that right. If you have a similar name as someone else and nothing else in common. Know that your information has a possibility of ending up in the hands of someone outside of the medical professionals. But I digress. This come to you directly from inside the building currently. Don’t worry West Clinic, no need to respond. I feel your time is much too important. Maybe instead find a better system for patients. Stop forcing patients to spend entire days in here. It’s crazy that a patient is scheduled for 2.5 hours of treatment. And it takes up an entire working day to get the 2.5 hours of treatment completed.
I love Dr. Ulm for his expertise and his humanity. When I went for my every-six-month, routine checkup on Friday, he must have remembered that I'm Jewish, and as we said goodbye, he wished me, Happy Chanukah. I loved that! I also saw a message in Hebrew at one of the staff, Sade's, desk (pictured here), which read, "Gam zu l'tovah" / "This, too, is for the best," which is a paradoxically positive, spiritual message for any one to post at a center devoted to cancer care and research. In addition, as a lesbian patient, I appreciated the electronic patient bulletin board's inclusion of LGBTQ healthcare tips.
The staff and all employees make you feel like you are someone special! The man preparing the drinking station and the cleaning crew were great! Dr. Shires and "Halle Berry" were my favorite. They eased my fear and put me in a place of warmth and peace. So far, West Clinic Center is only second to my favorite, which is St. JUDE, I LOVE THEM BOTH!
I can’t say enough about the kindness I encountered from each department, from check-in, lab, visit and check out. The process flowed great and the facility is beautiful. Many thanks to Dr. Robert Johnson for his time and genuine concern. As well as his immediate team, they were professional and kind. Lastly, the lab team was amazing, Kera is a jewel ✨ G
This is my first visit as a family member. We are 1 1/2 hour away. They will only allow one visitor to be with patient and because my daughter husband is legally blind and can’t drive I am gladly with them both. I must sit in lobby for 6 hours by myself. They don’t even have television . It is definitely not family supportive oriented. Who ever thought this family wait in lobby for 6 to 7 hours by themselves with no tv to watch or any convenient place to go or comfortable chairs to sit in must not have had a family member with cancer or not have had to sit in a sterile lobby for hours.
We have been coming to West Clinic for a year. We have been treated with compassion and loving care from the volunteers, the doctors and nurses, receptionists in all areas, to the cleaning and snack bar crews. Our experience has been exceptional. I am so grateful for all that has been done to save my husband’s life so that he can continue to live abundantly as God intends for all of us. It’s a blessing to have a place like West Clinic. I love my Dr and Nurse. They are great, but.. . The system to get messages to the staff is broken. Dont expect to call and be able to talk to your nurse even if it is serious. Apparently the different departments don't communicate with each other too. My first chemo appt was scheduled before I event had a port put in. Then when they called to schedule the port being put in, it was after my first chemo treatment. I had to point that out... Basically the support system is so broken, that I dont know I would recommend them. I would recommend the Drs/Nurses but the challenges that come with going to west make me wonder if it is worth it.
West Cancer Center is the best place to have your mammogram. Everything is clearly explained, you are not rushed, friendly, patient, thorough and dependable. The nurse's care as well as Dr. Gilmore. It's like you are his only patient.
