I can only say great things about WA hospital. I was seen in ER for chest pain and ended up spending the nite. From start to finish everyone was pleasant and helpful. Remember you are not the only patient they are taking care of. Also, everywhere you go these days places are short staffed. Please advocate for yourself and speak up and ask questions. I had a great experience here.
My favorite hospital for the last 33 years since my daughter was born there. Today I had an appt in radiology for an ultrasound and Jennifer was so kind and compassionate and really explained everything to me and made me feel less anxious and very calm. She was amazing. Also the woman that checked me in was so nice too. Thank you so much West Allis Memorial.
Had a outpatient procedure. Got to the room and not PRIVATE. There was another gentleman next to me. The thing really upsetting ???? was what happened to the HIPPA LAW!!! the man next to me could hear every medication I'm taking, address and all of the conversations. It seems no matter where you go since Covid no more privacy. You still get charged the same amount. Very frustrated and disappointed. Also they tell you to put your clothes in the closet, yet no key to lock it. How safe is that. This hospital has been going down hill for years. So many people in and out with having two people in the same room.
My daughter had emergency gallbladder removal surgery this morning. The procedure went without any problem. The problem I have with the staff and keeing apprised on the progress and her condition and updates. I was told that the surgeon was going to see me in the surgical waiting room (never happened), then told that a nurse was then going to inform me of the progress (never happened). I get more updates from someone who is not even at the facility. I understand patient confidentiality..... I suppose, I'm only her father. How do I get these automatic updates?
I was charged $1,180 for the privilege of sitting in the ER waiting room for 4 hours, only to be told by the doctor that they couldn't help my son who's teeth were being held out of socket by his smashed-in braces after a sports accident late at night. The doctor didn't touch my son, spent less than 5 minutes explaining that he went to medical school not dental school, and prescribed one pain pill to get my son through the night until he could see a dentist in the morning. $1,180. And I'm sure I'll also get a separate "doctor bill" in addition to that. Super big ick. Just another example of why the medical community has such a poor reputation.
Had an appointment for an MRI... So I went to the radiology department; located on the ground floor. There I met the friendliest people, soon as I walked in I felt welcomed. Starting with the receptionist Margie, then the MA Faith, the technician that performed the procedure Nicole, and last but definitely not least Ambrose, who helped me down off the table and escorted me to the front. I would like to thank you all for making my day......
Very poor communication between nurses, doctors and staff. Communication to our family was terrible.Extremely slow to answer call lights. Nursing staff can be found chatting in the nurses station and call lights beeping like crazy. Many of the doctors speak very poor English and are hard to understand when they do reach out to you.
If you can go elsewhere for hospital care...do so
Long wait times, medical condition doesn’t take priority. Seems to be first come first serve. Rooms are really dirty with dried blood. Rooms seem never to be swept too often. Medical equipment seems not to be cleaned too often. Recommend not going to Aurora. Aurora used to be very good, but has gone down a steep decline in service.
