The sign is the one of Vegas’ most iconic landmarks and it is a great place to take pictures. The queue for pictures can look a bit long but everyone quickly snaps a picture and moves on and the wait isn’t that long. There is a professional photographer who offers to take your picture free of charge and accepts tips.
If you’re in Vegas, you must see the sign on your trip, it’s a no-brainer!
Fun experience to say ‘I did it!’ We walked from Mandalay Bay which is about 15 mins walk! Was a queue but wasn’t as long as I’ve seen others experienced! It moved quickly enough we were in it 5 mins at most! Great shots from the front, some panhandlers there as always to take photos but we asked the person behind us who did it for free! It’s pretty much a photo to say I was there and did it! You can cut the queue and take it from the side but think a frontal view looks cooler!
An iconic 1950’s neon sign and popular photo op. The Welcome to Las Vegas Sign is a designated historic landmark and tourist attraction, it is open to everybody -24/7 even on holidays.
Sometimes there’s a lot of people especially tourists that you have to wait to take picture in the center of the sign - 10 to 20 minutes waiting in line.
I went there day time but have to come back at night to take pictures. I have the front and back Las Vegas sign.

Beautiful sign. You go there and it’s a first come first serve thing. There are people who take pictures there, they don’t charge you but you can tip them. We took some pictures with our phones and the professional photographer took some for us and it was beautiful. Lighting makes a difference
Site has a small parking lot and plenty of room for photos. I went during the day, early in the morning. I’m happy we went around 9am because the line slowly grew after we arrived. There is an in-official but helpful person at the front taking pictures for you for tips. You don’t have to use him or wait in the line if you’re fine taking your photo from the side. Very happy we went but I was very surprised with how busy it was so early!
Consider taking a photo at the Harley Davidson’s Las Vegas sign too! It’s just a few steps toward the strip from the Las Vegas sign. No people and a cool photo too!
The iconic Las Vegas sign, a timeless symbol since the 50s, continues to captivate visitors with its unchanged allure. Nestled near the airport on the middle of the road, this landmark boasts a small parking lot and a designated photo area, easily accessible even by public transport. Day and night, the sign offers a pristine canvas for photography enthusiasts.
However, the charm of the experience is somewhat tempered by the crowd, creating occasional wait times and prompting mixed feelings. While the sign itself is undeniably amazing, some visitors express discomfort with the unwarranted interference of a random individual offering photo services for tips. This raises questions about the freedom to capture personal moments without external pressure.
A notable highlight is the opportunity for both day and night photography, with the dazzling lights transforming the scene after sunset. Yet, the nighttime ambiance is not without its challenges, as the area sees its fair share of both eager photographers and homeless individuals offering their services for a fee. This dynamic prompts a call for increased security measures to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Despite these considerations, those armed with the latest smartphones equipped with top-notch cameras can capture stunning images of the sign and even indulge in selfies. The overall consensus remains positive, with the Las Vegas sign deemed a worthwhile destination. However, potential visitors are advised to navigate the bustling atmosphere with awareness, considering the nuances of the experience, from daytime crowds to nighttime encounters and the need for improved security.
It's the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign and if you're in town, well, you gotta get a pic with it.
My son and I walked down to it, even though you can drive, as there's a car park next to it. We joined the queue and watched what was going on.
There were two people offering to take your picture. One was at the front of the queue and he would take the pictures on your mobile phones for you and if you wanted to pay him something, it was entirely up to you! There were no complaints in the twenty-five minutes that we waited.
The other gentleman was taking pictures with his own decent SLR set up and from what I saw, I think he emailed you the pictures. This was obviously for a price and he did two newly married couples in the time we were there!
Now, for the front on shot, that most people want, the queue is for you! This means that no-one else will be in your shot. For the side on pictures, you just take them as and when you want. The time to take them is when one group has finished taking pictures and the next group are getting ready but remember, your pictures will be at around a forty-five degree angle to the sign.
When it was our turn I firstly took pictures of my son by himself and then (I'd already set the stand up) I placed my phone on my tripod and set it to ten seconds, for a couple of shots together. This was because I knew exactly what I wanted, with the sign hitting the middle of the palm trees, to square it off.
The twenty-five minutes actually flew by, as it was fun seeing others do strange poses under the sign.
Overall, it's up to you what you want and I didn't feel any pressure at all for the gentleman taking pictures with peoples phones. He actually said once I was finished "You came fully prepared"
Las Vegas means something different to each person. For us, we don't gamble so we came for the scenery, too visit casinos in all their incredible views and some of the shows. We used the monorail, which was an easy way to get between the main areas downtown.
