great experience and would definitely recommend. hotel was better than expected given it was the cheapest one. great location and easy transportation using the shuttle for both theme park and airport pick up/drop off. very close to Universal theme park and very prompt. loved that there was a desk to help with universal tickets and before going to the park and that i was able to get my passes at the hotel. food offered was good as well and everyone was friendly. walls were a little thin in room but it wasn't that noisy and everything was clean with beautiful views
We originally booked and stayed two nights at a Hilton branded hotel which turned out to be fairly horrendous so we decided to just go ahead and book the last three nights of our family trip at this Universal Hotel. We were very glad we did.||This hotel was excellent. Clean, spacious rooms and our view of the beautiful pool was a beautiful reminder daily of our fun in the sun vacation while our home was covered in snow!||Check in was easy, the Starbucks in the lobby though always busy, was great and the breakfast in the lobby restaurant Pier 8 was reasonably priced and delicious. ||Shuttle service to the Universal parks was quick and efficient and everyone working here seem to enjoy their jobs.. ||Highly recommended and we’ll be back!
We had a fantastic time during Thanksgiving! The rooms are great. The pool was nice. The food was incredible everywhere we went and the staff at the park and the hotel were very polite and kind and helpful. The only thing I would change about the experience is extra towels and washcloths for the rooms and cheaper drink prices. The refillable cups were available, but the average price for a soft drink at any restaurant is two bucks and I think the refillable cups were about $15 each. I just personally think the drinks should be cheaper. But other than that, we had a fantastic time.
We visited as a family with our two boys at the end of October. The hotel is conveniently located near Universal, I-Drive, and various retail outlets. The shuttle service to and from the theme parks was frequent and efficient, with a wait time of no more than five minutes.|Our children enjoyed the pool area, table tennis, and the games room. We utilized the poolside bar and the main foyer bar; while the drinks were somewhat pricey, they were not unreasonably so. The Pineapple cider was particularly enjoyable, and having a Starbucks on-site was very convenient.|Although the room was not the largest and was simply furnished, it was comfortable and well-maintained daily by the housekeeping team. Despite being on a middle floor, we did not experience significant noise, certainly no more than in other accommodations we have stayed in. The only downside was the air con being on full blast in the communal areas of the hotel, at times it was good to get outside to warm up!|Finally, as someone with Coeliac disease (Celiac in the US), finding gluten-free food while traveling can be challenging. However, the on-site dining facilities were excellent, with staff who were knowledgeable about gluten-free options. The food choices were good, and the gluten-free meals were freshly prepared. I felt confident dining at the hotel and ended up eating most meals there as I genuinely enjoyed the food.|If we return to Orlando in the future, we would certainly consider staying at Dockside again
For a value hotel and part of Universal you get a pretty good deal. Plus that includes that extra hour at the Islands of Adventure! The shuttles are easy to catch and on time. Desk attendants were friendly but the food court area is hit or miss on service. Some sections were difficult to get food because people were too busy talking or off to the side seemingly avoiding the guests. Even while standing right in front of them.
Pool area is nice and a great place to relax after a long day at the parks. We had a 2 bedroom suite which is great when you have kids. The decor/format of the room took away from being able to fully unpack and using the space better for longer stays. We used the laundry facilities, heard many units were down on level 6 and when attempting to vend soap, we had to pay extra to get any out because one of them was empty or caught and there is no way to get your dollar back if that occurs.
Overall would stay here again on a future visit.
Overall the hotel was fine. There was a 10 minute shuttle to Universal that ran all day. My biggest warning, the 2 bedroom suite says it has a "kitchenette." The room has only a mini fridge and a microwave. Those are pretty standard in almost any hotel room and definitely do not qualify as a kitchenette.
Parking was $19/day, less than parking at Universal, but not great.
People may be hesitant when hearing "value" resort, but this place is GREAT!! Our room was clean and inviting, and had a great view! The pools were large and fun! The market/food court area had a lot of options (most of which were delicious for this type of food) The staff was great, the free buses to the park were great, easy to use, and not overly crowded like at Disney...and we loved getting room service for pizza delivery at night! We will absolutely stay here again! Between the value and perks, this place is must!
Went for one evening for grandson’s birthday dinner, the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was the cleanest one I have ever been to and beautifully decorated. The cost was beyond reasonable for the accommodations. The view from room was gorgeous, the shuttle to attractions was great! Can’t say enough about how wonderful my stay was and I will be back!
