I have been wanting to try the Turkey Leg Hut since I saw it on the map after learning I was moving to Houston. The food looked amazing. We arrived on Sunday around 6:30pm. There were plenty of seats available and we were seated in a corner up against the false wall. It was soooo loud. They had music on full blast; it was very difficult to hear what the waitress was saying. We’re were making decisions about what we wanted and she kept making faces and comments trying to convince us to get the most expensive things on the menu. The Mac and cheese on the turkey leg was good, but the leg itself wasn’t doing it for me. I wanted this place to be good, but I frankly walked away a little disappointed.
A place actually very much worth the hype. We went on a late weekday evening and got lucky that the place hadn’t become too busy yet. We had the iconic Turkey Leg as well as bourbon barbecue wings with fries, and all of it was delicious. Definitely well worth the price for the portion size you get. Lots of savory options to choose from from and ways to customize your order. Staff is friendly (although they seem overworked and assigned too many tables). The biggest nightmare was parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a great place to get some indulgent soul food.
Never had a turkey leg like this before! Very much enjoyed the original turkey leg with sauteed spinach. Love that the spinach was served with shrimp. It's definitely a huge portion and the prices are fair.
Really appreciated such kind service by the bartender, Jaron. He helped me with several local recommendations and insured I had a good time. I will definitely be back on my next visit!
So glad we were able to try this Houston staple. There was a bit of a wait even though we had reservations; however the hostess and server owned up to the mistake which was very refreshing and responsible. We had the fried catfish, dirty rice, and famous turkey leg and it was all seasoned very well and really good! We will definitely come back the next time we visit.
My cousins came from California and made another and additional 4 hour ride to get to this place. My cousin said did not disappoint, and I agree! The food was so good I took a moment to tell the Lord thank you for my taste buds!???????? The turkey leg was smoked to perfection. I had the mac and cheese with crawfish...???? I tasted my cousin's florentine turkey leg and it was delicious beyond words. The jerk chicken fries were seasoned to perfection. ???? The portions were so huge that 2 to 3 people could share and be full.????
I visited Houston mid July and decided I would try the Turkey Leg Hut while I was there. To my surprise, they offered more than just turkey legs. I bought a Famous Turkey Leg, the Cajun or Creole bowl (I'm forgetting the name), and a strawberry lemonade. Everything I got was DELICIOUS, especially that bowl. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Houston.
We had an outstanding experience during our visit. The lack of lines or waiting times was a significant advantage, and the food was exceptionally fresh! Our host, Dimond (if I recall correctly), was incredibly courteous.
What truly impressed me was how Turkey Leg Hut was fully staffed, and the smiles on their employees' faces spoke volumes about their work environment and service.
Everything was fabulous. Out waitress for the "Cowgirl" bridal party was awesome! I didn't get her name but hopefully she get recognition! My food was superfunkadelic!!! I ate it 2 days later! I was ready to risk all my intestines! Only bad part is, I wouldn't sit outside again! The flies were terrible. I substituted my shrimp for chicken with the Alfredo.
