A must go if you are visiting Atlanta. The best: the fries and peach pie. Hotdogs and hamburgers were good. Onion rings were a little oily but they had no sauerkraut : (

This place is still open why??? The burgers are tasteless and dry, not to mention small. The French fries were disgusting. The onion rings weren’t great. The prices were a bit high. Lots of celeb pictures there but again not sure why. Lots of room to eat, plenty of tv’s and seating but the food isn’t good. First time. Won’t return.
We’ve been to the Varsity three times this week after appointments at Emory. We have had cashiers Comfort, Messiah, and Destiny. Each time we ate at the Varsity, it appeared to be clean and the food was good. Our order was correct every time, except for our last visit, but we had our family with us, so we had a total of 10 orders on one ticket. Even then, we were given the missing items with no problem.
We had been looking forward to eating here for many years but what a forgettable experience it was! We had to wait about a half an hour to order our food but did not have to wait long at all to get our food.
We ordered two chili cheese slaw dogs, a bacon double cheeseburger, onion rings, chili cheese fries, an apple pie, and two sweet teas for just over $34. The hamburger was cold and the rest of the food was barely luke warm which is surprising for the amount of food they pump out. The fries had a burnt taste and the onion rings were soggy and grease soaked. The chili and slaw had virtually no flavor. What a disappointment. This was pure poor quality garbage. The best thing there was the tea and apple pie. We had an ice cream and sandwich shop for many years and would never have been caught dead serving food like this; if that's what you want to call it.
This place has been around for almost 100 years now and I’ve been going there for almost 50 of them. The atmosphere is unique in that you order at the long counter and take your food away on a tray, there are about 6 different ‘rooms’ you can choose to sit in. It’s an Atlanta staple and a must stop. The chili is like no other. I always get 2 chili dogs with mustard and onions, fries, and a world famous frosted orange shake. They also serve burgers and onion rings.
I've not been here since I was 8 years old. With my parents in town for the weekend, we had to go! It doesn't disappoint. My chilidogs and onion rings were awesome, the fries were so delicious, and that sweet tea hit the spot!
They definitely live up to the hype and are a must visit on your list of you come to Atlanta!
