Best WLM Reviews

We had an outstanding experience at The Salt Lick BBQ! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by an inviting and earthy atmosphere that set the perfect tone for our meal. The staff were not only friendly but also helpful, guiding us through the ordering process seamlessly. Despite a wait of about 25 minutes, which wasn't bad considering the popularity of the place. We ordered ribs— btw they are very generous portions.
Absolutely divine and truly a standout dish.
The Chicken was flavorful, it practically melted off the bone.
The Brisket was perfectly done, with just the right balance of flavor and tenderness.
Their desserts are amazing, the peach cobbler and chocolate pecan pie are exceptional!!
While the BBQ and desserts were exceptional, the only downside was the limited variety of sides. We would have loved more options to complement the savory goodness of the BBQ. Nonetheless, The Salt Lick BBQ earns a solid five ✨ stars for its fantastic atmosphere, friendly service, and unbeatable BBQ offerings. Can't wait to return!
It is such a great place to go with friends and family. They have their own wine tasting room and a beautiful outside area to enjoy food and drinks. However, we got all you can eat on Sunday. The food was great, with the exception of the ribs that were very dry. I'd like to go back and try their chicken. They have an excellent mac-n-chez, which is not on the menu quite yet, but feel free to ask for it. Overall, it is an excellent place to visit.
This was my first visit to the Salt Lick BBQ and I was thoroughly impressed with the meal I had. The service was great for a BBQ joint, and fast. I would say this BBQ was arguably the best I've had since I've been in Texas. The ground are rustic but clean, and somewhat romantic. You will find a large vineyard, vine-covered sitting areas with chandeliers, and a wine "cellar". The restroom in the wine cellar was charming. The folks who work there were very friendly, but that's what I hear about the people who live in Hill Country of Texas.
I've wanted to visit for a long time. The BBQ didn't disappoint. The Bison Rib, sausage, and Brisket were delicious. Being in the Hill Country I probably should have expected German style sides but I didn't. I did like the potato salad and the slaw was different than I expected but it was good too. Beans were good typical ranch style beans. Good but I've had those enough in my life that I like beans better other ways. The peach cobbler was bland and the blackberry had too much crust and not enough blackberry. I'll give 'em a pass on the desserts since I enjoyed the Q so much.
Great food according to my wife (she eats meat like a real blooded American) whereas I only ate the vegetarian plate.
When I ordered the vegetarian plate, the restaurant looked at me and groaned. Just kidding, but our waitress was overwhelmed and after getting our drinks ordered it took about 20 minutes before we could order food.
That's the only knock, otherwise great food and nice environment with outdoor music.
Been coming here for decades, so this trip was definitely a disappointment. I ordered the brisket and sausage, and asked for point (brisket). Also threw in the words extra moist just to sort of clarify. Got my plate and immediately noticed that, although it had sort of been sliced through a bit of the point as well as flat, 90% was flat. On top of that, it was undercooked. (couldn't pull it apart)
I managed to wave down a server and explained, and they quickly brought me out two nice pieces of point. Unfortunately, it was not completely cooked either and was very chewy. Couldn't pull it apart as well.
Very disappointing, since it's pretty easy to cook brisket to 203ish. It's also frustrating how many BBQ places don't train their staff to understand the cuts of brisket and how to order from the kitchen.
Beans were tasty. Potatoes and slaw didn't have the flavor I remember.
This is one of the most famous barbecue places in Texas. It’s on every top 10 barbecue list that’s ever been published. And it is the quintessential Texas barbecue experience. Stroll thru the rustic interior and barn wood siding with wooden tables under the giant Texas live oaks. Sip a cold Lone Star beer and eat the best ribs you’ve ever had in the cool shade of a perfect Texas afternoon.
The combination plates are the way to go and the ribs are king here but the brisket and the turkey and the pork and the sides are all amazing. Make sure you go into the pit room and take some pictures because it’s the most unique and authentic barbecue pit you’re likely to ever see.
Don’t be surprised to see a wedding party or a family reunion or any other type of celebration going on here because that’s how memorable this place is. So if you’re in Austin, make sure you take the short trip out to Driftwood and experience what Texas barbecue is all about.
BBQ was good, of course. But the service was flawless and above and beyond. They were so kind and caring and attentive with our huge party. Our servers genuinely wanted us to enjoy ourselves and have a great experience.
And the blackberry cobbler was my favorite. I wish I could go back for more.
