I'd say definitely come try this place at least once. It was fun to order inside and experience the mobile diner that has been around since 1893. Inside there are photos of movies and shows that have featured the diner, which was fun to see.
It wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but it was big and was good. We had the Original and the After Dark. The Haven style fries were good! My kids really liked the fried dough and churros. Would recommend it for the experience.
Being a diner guy, I had to check this place off my bucket list. A Tiny, tin establishment that cranks out nice sized deliciously topped burgers and I wolfed down a really tasty RI style weiner with fries. They have many flavored milkshakes to enjoy and some cool pictures of how the place has been in movies and shows. Only downside, no bathrooms and I couldn't find one for a 6 year old in the city hall area. It's definitely a cool experience with good grub and I'd like to try more menu items next time.
One of the oldest mobile diners in the country! They started with a horse-drawn carriage. They work in the dead of night in a sketchy part of Providence. But they sling great burgers and fries. Got to eat mine while a street person asked me for $2 and offered me candy in exchange, and then went off on a rant about how good Haven Brothers was. I agree!
We waited for 20 minutes and asked about the wait time, but they told us they didn’t know without giving any reason. Since we were in a hurry, we asked about getting a refund, but they said it wasn’t possible without explaining why. They also didn’t mention how much longer we’d have to wait for our order, so we just kept waiting.
Ordered a mocha shake and a tiramisu shake, both tasted like vanilla shakes...
The fries were decent.
Sadly, this is a far cry from how my last few visits went over a year ago.
Will not be back.
A great place to get a bite to eat right on the streets of downtown Providence! The rodeo cheeseburger was amazing! So we’re the onion rings, cheese fries and regular hamburger! Service was great! Very fast and friendly! Walk right in, order and pick up your food at the window outside. Prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend trying this place out! You will not be disappointed!
It was all good, love the shakes (which they claim to have over 200 flavors of!) and the rest of the menu looked good. But the price, $9 for milkshake… a bit pricey. Love it as an aesthetic late night place to grab a bite.
Cool place to visit and try. The food is average. Yes, they’ve been here forever and family owned for generations but the food is not worth making dedicated journey. I ordered the Rodeo Burger and a peanut butter cookie. $16.00. Not terrible. Both were ok.
My take. If you’re in Providence and it’s late, stop on by for a satisfying meal.
