The Black Eyed Peas is a good value for the money. Our drinks were huge! The Big Daddy burger was absolutely incredible and sharable for two. The waitress was friendly but it was strange that she was sitting at a table to take a family's order. We asked for ketchup packets. The waitress did provide them, but was argumentative about why we needed them. That was uncomfortable. The burger was put together with ingredients that we requested to be put on the side, like the pickes and the tomatoes. We had to separate our own plates to share. The ambiance is quaint, with country murals and small spaces for tables. Overall, it was a nice lunch and a good value for the money.
Tried all you can eat haddock on Friday. It comes with two sides and three options, fried, grilled, or blackened. I tried clam chowder and fried cabbage and loved them! Not impressed with fried fish as it's a dip type of batter, very greasy. Fish was rather bland. I then asked to try the blackened version. Oh my -- perfectly moist, flaky, and seasoned! Very generous portions. Try this place and go for blackened, if you want fish.
Very cramped inside, very warm and not great a/c and no ceiling fans turned on. Restrooms were outside in the rear parking lot so rain or shine you have to go outside the main building and walk to the back and the toilet was like a “ rocking chair.”Food was nothing special. However, the service people was welcoming and friendly.
Wa traveling through Florida on business and tried this place! It was so comfy and staff is very friendly!
The food was delicious. It was breakfast hours however I was allowed to order from the lunch menu which was great for me!
My husband had breakfast and I had grilled chicken sandwich with fries!
Satisfying soul food on a Sunday. Ordered a take out veggie plate meal. Health is a value to me and this was a great meat-less meal was priced under $10. My veggies (fried okra, black eyed peas, greens, and Lima beans) were very well seasoned and full of flavor!!. I was surprised I didn’t even need any hot sauce. The hostess. Taylor (I learned there are two) was very welcoming and friendly. The hospitality here is worth visiting in this quaint Dade City town. If your driving down 301, consider slowing down to stop in for a meal which you will not regret. I was advised they are extending their hours even later to accommodate more folks. The fact they are open on a Sunday make it worth stopping in for brunch or lunch especially after a Sunday church service. I made the visit from neighboring Zephyrhills and I will come back to try the fried cabbage.
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes and collard greens were excellent! Ordered grilled haddock to take home to wife it was good too!
Friendly service. Generous portions. Delicious homestyle food!
This place is a jewel! The epitome of what I look for when I'm traveling around Florida working. I saw their sign and I just had to stop in.
It was Friday, and on Fridays they seem to have some fish specials. I had the haddock and it was cooked perfectly, it's been a long time since I really enjoyed fish! Everything that I saw served to the other guests looked phenomenal! If my belly was big enough I would have tried it all ;-)
You definitely have to stop by and see this one if you're in the area. Be prepared though, it's very cozy and the people are very friendly! Being a stranger, a traveler, it's refreshing to be treated like I was one of their regulars.
