Well, I just loved this place. The atmosphere is great. Music, awesome beer, and food just hits the spot. Gift shop, well, for sure, you have to get a T shirt. Only wish we could have had longer here. It's a must do in key west for sure.
You can’t go to Key West without stopping in at Sloppy Joes, at least I can’t. It’s exactly the same as it was the first time I went 45 years ago. It almost never closes, the food is pretty good, the drinks are great. It’s a constant party. Drink some rum, get a shirt, you won’t regret it!
When visiting Key West, it seems that everyone visits Sloppy Joe's Bar on Duval St because it is an icon there. They originated in Havana and brought it here to Key West a long time ago. Tourists who want to party from all over the world will be found here. It is loud inside so be prepared. It is packed usually so if crowded places bother you, then you probably shouldn't come here. They have local talent playing live music every day. The food is not their claim to fame and it is overpriced. Stick to the drinks and you'll be fine. You can buy some souvenirs here if they are not sold out. They have a large collection of flags hanging from the ceiling from all over the world. I particularly enjoyed seeing my ancestors' flag ???????? brought directly from Latvia to Joe's by my friend, Jēkabs Zalte, when he visited here a whole ago. My daughter was surprised and pleased to see the flag also. We had a good time and had a couple of Tito's to celebrate our trip.
Awesome bar in downtown Key West! Great atmosphere with live music and tons of seating. It was my first time, so I had to try the Sloppy Joe. The flavor was great, but the chunks of celery were way too big for my taste. Cajun fries had a good flavor as well. Overall a fun place to visit, but very expensive for what you get.
Fun place with live music. Had lunch (blacken chicken sandwich) and drinks on a Tuesday afternoon. Service was attentive and the food was pretty good for bar type menu. Has 3 or 4 bars inside and was crowded for a Tuesday! Popular place for tourists, but worth the visit. Has gift shop and live cams if you want to watch both inside and outside. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area.
Historic Duval St bar with allll the Hemingway nods.
We stopped in for the novelty one evening and grabbed a couple drinks along with their fish tacos to keep us going. What a lovely and fun place!
Service was great, plenty of seats to grab with friends, drinks were strong (20% heavy pours is what they advertise), and the food was a tasty treat. & The duo performing brought the perfect vibe, too.
Loved our stop in. Recommend!
Such a fun place to hang out and listen to live music while enjoying some drinks and good food. A gentleman was there singing and did a great job while we visited. Everyone was singing along as he picked great songs the audience knew.
We ordered a cheese pizza, mozzarella sticks, a sloppy Joe - of course!, and a garlic Parmesan pizza. All was delicious, especially the Sloppy Joe which tasted very fresh and unique to any Sloppy Joe I’ve ever had. I tried their sloppy mule and liked it too.
Our server was friendly and attentive, she never let a drink run dry. Our food came out so quick and was hot and fresh!
Definitely recommend.
Sloppy Joe's seems like a historical staple in Key West so I had to give it a try. Walking in, I can already see it's pretty crowded on a Saturday and the security guard at the front door gave us the heads up that we can just sit anywhere that is empty. He gave my dog a pet and said that they're dog friendly.
We went and sat down and the live band didn't come on yet. Everything about our experience this day was decent. We ordered the peel shrimp, a sloppy joe's burger, fried shrimp, and chips with salsa. The Sloppy Joe's burger was not as good as we had hoped. More on the tomato-y side. And definitely very messy. The cold peel shrimp was delicious. I loved it. Chips and salsa were okay and the fried shrimp was a safe choice. Decent pricing.
Throughout our time here, they also treated my dog with a lot of kindness. They gave him 3 milkbones and a cup of water. It's much appreciated!
