Best WLM Reviews

I enjoyed my Thanksgiving holiday with friends in Vegas and we had reservations at Rio. It's not on the strip but its just off the strip a few minutes away. The views of the Vegas skyline from the rooms are everything. Check in went smoothly, was a small wait, but not long. Guest services was friendly and moved quickly. The atmosphere was lively. Our rooms were very large. The beds were so comfortable. We also had a sofa sleeper as well. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. We had plenty of towels in the room. We were able to eat on site. There are several eateries and stores located inside the hotel. Overall very enjoyable stay. We will be returning soon!
I don't have any clue as to what happened to this beautiful casino. ( see pics now and then). It used to be the place to be, hang out, dine, and party. Now it's awful. They can not even blame covid for this. Where has the beauty gone? Where has the excitement gone? Now it's like a ghost town, a shell of what it used to be. If other budget friendly established hotels are full and you just want to cool your heels, it will do.
We had a great visit to the Rio. Every room is suite like (large). The updated suites are great. We only ate at the Tavern this time. It was good but not great. Hopefully they can keep the momentum with the new owners and upgrades. We look forward to staying here again. Uber was $10 to the strip but the comped room and no resort fees made that an easy expense to incur. Nice and quiet.
We booked Rio through the affiliation with Hyatt, and it was at a pretty reasonable rate with points. We checked in via a Kiosk and despite some initial confusion around parking, we were able to get in ok. The room was very nice, roomy and clean, but later that day we realized there was not a single towel in the whole room. We tried to call room service 3-4 times but no one answered. We ultimately had to go down to the lobby to get help. There is also no service desk, just the one check in desk with a big line of guests trying to check in. Took us an hour to eventually get the towels.
Location of the hotel is decent, it’s not on the strip but close enough. The casino is on the smaller side. Parking is free for Rio which is pretty rare for hotels in Vegas.
Would have been a 5 star stay if not for the lack of service.
In one word: "Amazing". The new owners are really reviving the Rio. Rooms are beautifully renovated at the Ipanema tower, food court is really good and lots of choices. Fridge on the room for personal use and lots of charging points for your devices.
The casino has all the new games and is vibrant. I'm so glad that this place gets the TLC that is deserves. We are coming back.
The new rooms are refreshing. Room 679 is nice and has a king bed, nice couch, and plenty of room. The restaurant selection is decent. I would recommend adding a southern restaurant with country music or a creole restaurant with a jazz club or both. The location is off the strip. The front desk staff was nice and the tables have fair prices. Very affordable and the rooms are nicer than any of the 3 star hotels on the actual strip.
They really need to bring back the shuttle to the strip since they still charge $56 resort fee and the gym is in a banquet hall and the pool is closed.
Awesome views at Voodoo Steak of the entire strip. Great date night spot!
I originally posted a 1 star review, but i decided that's not fair to the Rio itself. My biggest gripe is not posting pricing up front, shocking people with the hidden resort fees upon arrival. They will tell you to talk to the third company, and the third company will tell you to talk to the hotel. I'm guilty of not reading the fine print. But I don't feel I should have to I just want to enjoy my vacation. I know the staff deals with a lot of unhappy people, but it would be nice if they could show some empathy toward a customer, rather than placing blame on the customer. The location is actually pretty good, the only reason I gave it three stars, is because for those of us who choose to walk to enjoy the views the bridge can be pretty dirty. Also if it was one block closer that would be nicer. The best part of my stay was easily the room. I was worried about the bad reviews but they really came through on that part. I didn't get a chance to do the wine tasting and the Voodoo Lounge, but I would come back to try it out. They also offer a comedy show I will be attending later I'm very happy about that.
Las Vegas will always be one of my favorite destinations in the US, but I don't think I'll stay at the Rio again. While it was fairly affordable—which is likely a big draw for many visitors—it came with several downsides.||When we arrived at the hotel around midnight, we discovered there was no parking reserved for hotel guests, as the lot was being used by casino patrons. Valet parking wasn’t available either. To make matters worse, they had spelled my name incorrectly on the reservation, which led to a lengthy check-in process while I was tired and dealing with the smell of smoke from the casino.||When I finally got to my room, it was clean but lacked basic amenities we’ve grown accustomed to, like tea/coffee-making facilities and bottled water. On the bright side, we were on the 16th floor, so the room had a nice view, which was a saving grace.||Overall, I’ve stayed at much better hotels in the same category. It might be worth adding a couple of hundred dollars to your accommodation budget for a more comfortable and hassle-free experience in Las Vegas.
