The atmosphere was the way it should be in a small town. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. The beer was cold. It was good after a long drive. I had the special- prime rib which had all the flavor a person could ask for but the cut itself was way to fatty. Half of the cut was lost to fat and gristle. I’d still eat there again if I was ever back in this area.
This is the meeting and eating place in Challis. Small menu of mostly a few meat selections and your choice of sides. However, the meat is always delicious and plentiful.

One of the BEST bbq restaurants I’ve been to. The food and staff are always outstanding. A great small town atmosphere with indoor/outdoor seating. Great regional beer selection. The Saturday prime rib was delicious!
We were in town for a wrestling tournament. It was 7:30 pm when we got out of the tournament and this establishment was the only place the would take us. Even though they had no room they let us do take out orders. The food was excellent, service was awesome, down right good people. Definitely will eat here again.
We decided to go to the Real Deal Smokehouse because of all the recommendations and online reviews. It was ok. Looks better than it tastes. I can't explain it. The prime rib in this part of the US is cooked differently than where I'm from. I personally like it better in NC. Not a bad meal, just not my favorite.
Terrific local place. Great food, in a lovely Idaho setting (main st, hiway, with spectacular mountain/valley views). Lots of nice outdoor seating, home-made cole slaw and various kinds of potato offerings makes this place special and unique.
Simply amazing. We had the prime rib, perfect medium rare, great sides, and a portion almost too big to polish off. Perfection on the smoke, not too much, just right. GREAT SERVICE!
Can't say enough about this friendly small town little eatery. All the meat is freshly smoked, the atmosphere is great, the smells while you are there are mind melting delicious. I'm really enjoyed the whole experience, our server was knowledgeable and so very friendly and the gentleman who was cooking was happy to stop and answer questions. They also have a killer selection of beer on tap, local ones out of Salmon as well as one out of Boise that I really enjoyed. The food was fantastic, my sandwich was flavorful and succulent, the potato salad bright and crisp yet creamy and truly fulfilling. Highly recommend this as a must stop if you're in the area.
