This is my second time at A Q39 restaurant, first time at this location, food was fantastic at both locations. The sauce was sweet but not too sweet, it was perfect ( I prefer sweet over spicy sauce) the Mac and cheese was great also. Even my picky three year old ate more than I’ve ever seen her eat!
Food was cooked well and prepared properly.
I had Certified Angus Beef Brisket with a side of Mac & Cheese. $26 after tax and tip. If you’re used to eating further down south BBQ, pass on this spot. The price does not match the quality. The brisket was dry and the burnt ends were difficult to pull apart. Both were a little tough to chew. The sauce was great and definitely helped make the meat. I just like meat that is great on its own, not meat that needs sauce to enjoy. The Mac & Cheese was the worst of all. Very bland and flavorless. Didn’t taste bad, just boring. All in all, the staff is great, environment excellent but the food is overpriced. If you’re from Texas, this place doesn’t even touch Rudy’s quality of meat and we all know they aren’t our best in major cities.
This places was exactly what I expected Kansas City BBQ to taste like. The sauce was Smokey & a little sweet. The sausage which was hard to find on the menu was hands down the best sausage I have EVER eaten & I had some from all over the country. The whiskey flights along with their tales of origin give you a full adventure. Even the BBQ brisket poutine fries hit so hard. Would gladly come back if I were in this part of the country again.
I know a few things about BBQ myself, and so does Q39. Everything was delicious. Wife had the Pulled Pork, Brisket, with Mac & Cheese. I went with Spare Ribs, Brisket, Chipotle Smoked Sausage, with Beans and Roasted Mexican Street Corn. Again, all was great. I didn't need any extra sauce. It is fairly priced as well for the portions. Will recommend this one to anyone asking about KC BBQ. Yeah, I know it's technically not in KC, but a 20-minute drive to eat good is nothing in Northwest Arkansas.

Emma was really sweet and polite, she told us the special appetizer of the day, and even accommodated our requests.
I got the Combo (Pick 2)- Ribs and pulled pork— they are both delicious. Comes with a side that can be upgraded to Mac n Cheese (Worth the up charge!)
Have tried the potato salad in the past and that’s great too!
Order the onion straws for the best appetizer of your life! The ribs & sausage were my favorite! Emma was a fantastic server, very attentive and she brought me extra meat out when my order was messed up. A real homie!
Have loved this place for years! Always a must have when in KC or Overland Park. Recommend it to everyone who asks about KC BBQ! Our server Emily was fantastic tonight, very knowledgeable and helpful. Can’t say we have ever had a bad service experience here!
This is easily the best BBQ/smoked meats in KC! I tried a few others on this trip and have had Jack Stack’s in the past… Jack’s was definitely really good, but this place actually know how to smoke and serve meat! I went to some that seem to have smoked meat and then re-heat to order. Here, they are actually busy and smoke fresh meat and serve that daily!
We got a shareable board, which has all meats + two sides for two people for $30/pp and it’s a great deal! Lots of food, definitely sufficient protein! Everything was flavorful!! The best brisket I’ve ever had in the Kansas City area was this brisket! Perfect smoke ring, nice flavor, and excellent texture and moistness! The burnt end were quite nice as well. Chicken was outstanding! Sausage was also great!
Sauces are just “decent” but far from the best. Service and the venue is perfect!
Highly recommend stopping in… I’ll be back!
