Best WLM Reviews

Porto’s is an LA staple for a reason. The prices here are the best you will find anywhere, and without sacrifice of quality. Everything here is exceptional from the food to the baked pastries and cakes. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, potato balls, coconut strudel, and a drip coffee. All were great. I have been to the Burbank location as well and tried a number of other things. It’s very popular so expect to wait in a line. However there is lots of staff and tons of seating inside and outside, the parking lot in the back should have ample room as well. I love coming here, and will definitely be back.
Obviously lines here are long but if you order online for pickup you get to bypass the line as long as you order 2 hours before the time you would like to go in for pick up. The pastries are great & small savory items as well. The one thing I would highly recommend staying away from is anything with chicken that comes from the kitchen ie the salads with any added chicken, the grilled chicken sandwich, the Plato de pollo (citrus chicken plate) every single time without fail that I have ordered anything with chicken it’s always dangerously undercooked. I received a ton of attitude when I asked for a remake of the summer harvest salad since the chicken was severely undercooked. When I received it the second time once again the chicken was raw. I ended up just asking for my money back at that point. Other than that the pastries are safe, drinks, cakes, & small savory items & the salads without chicken????
I do not know a single person who does not love Porto’s. A true staple, I don’t think there is a single item that is not amazing and delicious. And the best part is the VALUE, you can get so many items for an amazing price. People are always leaving the place with huge bags and boxes of Porto’s goodness.
- Highly recommend! Excellent overall experience. Great prices. Great cubano sandwich. Clean and lively atmosphere. No pestering for tips on payment screen. Friendly service.
- The only constructive criticism is that they delivered every item we bought (bread, drinks, sandwich, croissant role) apart by about 2-3 minutes (annoying). I'd prefer you just bring everything all at once.
My first experience here was AMAZING. The potato balls, GET THEM. The pastries, GET THEM. Their drinks, GET THEM. I am really into Ube and so I got the Ube Matcha Latte, my sister got the strawberry matcha and both drinks were great! The potato balls were warm and cheesy, it was the perfect snack to have before traveling elsewhere in California!
Totally an LA MUST! I got the Plato de pollo and it was so filling. I also got the guava smoothie which was so refreshing. I also tried the Refugiado & I am still dreaming of having another one. When I got there there were long lines so I was scared that they would take forever, but the lines went by pretty fast and service was fast as well! It also gets pretty crowded, but we managed to find a seat outside that day.
Porto's is a crowded and budget friendly Cuban bakery and cafe that has been opened since morning. That's why, this place is already full of people even in the morning. They serve various breakfasts, sandwiches, sweet, savory pastries, cakes, beverages. Since there are so many options here, I bet you'll need some time to think which ones to choose ????
Even some of the seasonal menu are interesting, just like the pumpkin cheesecake that we had!
They're famous with the affordable cheese roll (do try this one!)
I tried their Dulce de Leche Latte. It's sweet, but not overly sweet. What a refreshing and recommended latte to have!
They have both indoor and outdoor seating. After you order, go and grab an empty seat quickly if you want to dine in.
Recommended bakery & cafe! ❤️
Cubano sandwich / slow-roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, Cuban dressing (mustard, mayonnaise, and house seasonings) on a Cuban roll - 5????!
Classic potato ball, cheese + spicy peppers potato ball, seasonal turkey potato ball, chicken croquette - 5????!
Carrot cake slice - 5????!
Cheese + guava strudels - 5????!
Porto's Bakery and Cafe is an iconic local bakery and cafe known for its amazing selection, long (but fast moving) lines, and still affordable prices for the quality and value. They have many locations around LA and are expanding into new areas so if you don't have a nearby Porto's yet, don't lose faith!
I have been going to Porto's for years and by now, I know well in advance that I have pretty much no self control over my selections when I make it up to the front of the counter. This review is actually on the smaller side compared to what I normally get.
I make sure to go when I am ready for a meal and not just a snack because I always have to get a sandwich, 99% of the time it is either a Cubano or a Medianoche. In the pantheon of sandwiches, the humble Cubano stands tall in flavor and Porto's makes an excellent version.
But lunch or dinner is not complete without an assortment of their savory potato balls and croquettes. They are a delicious treat to go with a sandwich. Here is where my self control starts to break down. This visit I ordered 4 of these tasty savory bites.
Every visit to Porto's needs to include some bakery items. These I save for later but it is quite rare that whatever I buy from the bakery makes it to the next day. I like to mix up my bakery items and this time I had an excellent carrot cake slice and some of their strudels.
If you really can't fathom waiting in line, which is a shame, because the Porto's line moves fast, I would recommend the Glendale location. In my experience, they tend to not have too many people in line when I am there but maybe I haven't been during peak times.
I'm not sure if there is parking for the Glendale location, I usually just find a street parking spot close by.
If you have never heard of Porto's before, I highly recommend them and you are in for a treat! They are beloved by LA for a very good reason.
