Best WLM Reviews

Place is cafeteria style, grab a menu, order, find a seat, put your receipt on the table and a server will take care of you.
Food is local NOLA flavours. Went twice, first time tied the gumbo, jambalaya and beans and rice. There was the small serving (ie cups) and it add up to a full meal. I found it a bit pricey though. Second time I had the fried ham with all the greens - cabbage, turnip greens and long beans. All the greens were like boiled with some pickling vinegar, so it cuts the fattiness and saltiness of the ham.
I wouldn’t say I dislike the food. Definitely good for a first experience if you are not coming into NOLA for the first time but I wouldn’t crave it as I need a bit more flavour to my food.
By the way I know tipping is a culture here but I do wish they don’t try so hard to make it a point to remind guest their names and expecting a tip.
Had no idea this place was so popular. Googled gluten free jambalaya and found a personal review that said they do gluten free. Called to check if they do and ordered on the phone. When I got there the staff was so funny. It was fun joking around with them. Jambalaya was great! The ambiance is fun with old photos. It has character with old photos and a historical diner feel.
Great place to eat. I got the combination platter, it had red beans and rice, jambalaya, shrimp creole, potato salad, and cabbage. It was good but the shrimp creole was too fishy tasting for me. I got the bread pudding and was disappointed by it. It was very mushy and the brandy sauce didn't have much flavor. My daughter got the gulf shrimp and fries. The fried shrimp was delicious but the fries had no salt and tasted too much like the peanut oil they use.
This place gets busy. And I mean REALLY busy. But it depends on the day. I tried to go there on Memorial day and the line went past the building and continued to the corner. But on the Saturday prior, the was plenty of seats available around lunch time. But is the food really worth all that price? Well, it depends. The Jambalaya is EXCELLENT! Probably the best I've had in NOLA by far. Just be careful with the size. They are quite stingy with it. Was you see on the picture is a medium for instance. However the Po' boy, fries, turkey and everything else I've tried was average. This spot has the reputation of being a must to visit if you're in NOLA. All I can stay is that, if you're willing to give it a shot, do yourself a favor and try their Jambalaya!
I visited this place today for the first time. The food was excellent, but the service was not. I think it was just too busy for good service, and there just wasn’t a general politeness that we’re accustomed to. I do still recommend this place though due to the excellent food at a great price. The red beans, and ham were excellent.
The pancakes here were amazing! I couldn't live near this restaurant, I'd gain so much weight! We also had the seafood gumbo and it was authentic New Orleans style! The fried oyster po boy was delicious as well. This is my new favorite restaurant in downtown!
As others have posted, food is cafeteria style. Grab a menu on your way in the door or look online first as there is quite an assortment. We split the platter, plenty for two. Our server Al was excellent
Food came out quickly. Never had collard greens before, but they were tasty along with the jambalaya, beans and rice (made me think of Dave Ramsey) and everything else on the plate.
Decided to get a brownie to go. Super moist, definitely satisfying even the most chocoholic!
It was less than a block from our hotel.
If you want good, fast and reasonable food, this is the place. Less than $40 for everything. Check the pictures!
Delicious! The service was quick! The ordering part took a while but that's expected around lunchtime. The place is way bigger than you would think, there are so many places you can sit in the back of the building. The food came out quick and it was tasty
