We were visiting New Orleans recently. We had heard you must visit Mother’s Restaurant for breakfast. We did. Oh my. It was good. ???? they have been in business along time in New Orleans. They are a staple in the community. Their ham is legendary I’m told. It was so good. Cheese grits & eggs & giant biscuits were served with the ham. The biscuits were huge! You get in line to order & then they bring your plate to you. They have multiple dining rooms so plenty of seating room. Visit the next time you are close. It’s a tradition!
If we could give this restaurant 10 stars we would! We were here on a trip and visited here twice! The first time service & food was amazing! Second time service & food was even more amazing! Our waiter was Logan. He was very nice & made conversation with my husband and I & made us feel so welcomed. We let him know I’ve never tried gumbo but have always wanted to try it & he brought us a sample and let me just tell you I was blown away! That gumbo was so delicious!! Highly recommend this amazing restaurant!!
Huge plate of food. Truly delicious. I had the fried ham plate with three sides. Staff could not have been more pleasant. When you enter, you place your order and pay for your meal. Then you have a seat at one of their many tables. The wait staff for the table comes and takes you receipt and brings the meal to your table. The wait staff were so attentive with drink refills, napkins and anything else you may need.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in town.
I went to this iconic NOLA place with a friend. The place was crowded with mostly tourists and conference visitors. The ambiance of the place takes you far back into the history of the American South. However, the food was pretty average, we got a half and a full Po Boy, the bread was a bit stiff and the pulled turkey breast inside was not very juicy. The Po Boy came with a side of Jus De Beef which is light and delicious. Overall a nice experience and a very student-friendly price range.
Loved it! Old style diner complete with pictures of famous people on the wall. Very friendly staff and the food was wonderful. Certainly worth coming back again.
Excellent place for breakfast! The amount of food served is insane! Don't over do it! The pancakes are the size of the plate! Grits and eggs were perfect. This restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are immaculate! Our server was kind and helpful... zero complaints!
Fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried crab... tasted the same. They gave you huge portions though. The greens were tasty and the cheese grits were average. The restaurant could use a good cleaning. But the service was amazing. The price was $30.00 per plate.
Continued eating our way thru NOLA with a visit to Mothers. WOW what a meal! We had a quick wait in the outside queue and it’s asked that you have your order ready when you move inside to keep the line moving. There are paper menus they’ll give you or you can look online. The inside is a diner feel and is cozy and clean. Now to food - Them good eats. We shared the seafood gumbo, baked ham (because they have the best in the world), fried catfish plate with greens and red beans and rice. I fought Josh for the last of the red beans and rice if that tells you anything. The gumbo game was strong and that bowl was licked clean as well. The greens were perfect and went well with the catfish. If I lived here I would be eating at this place all the time. Oh and the bloody Mary’s were hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t say enough good things about Mothers.
