We had dinner there. As the most places in the center of tourist attractions, the diner was packed, and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get the table. However, they give you a messenger, and you can wait in the comfort of your car. The service was very good: attentive and fast. The place is a classic diner: cool and easy. The food was good, but portions were pretty small compared to average. It was enough for me, but it was definitely not enough for my husband. His pork chop was really small.
This was a wonderfully quaint, nostalgic dining experience. Our food was reasonably priced and good. Our waitress (Erin) was attentive and friendly and even offered to take a photo for us. We enjoyed our visit very much. What made it more special was that we were fans of the 70's-80's TV show "Alice." We had been looking for souvenir t-shirts for our vacation and were able to buy them there. I will proudly wear my Mel's Diner "Kiss my grits" t-shirt! ????
We got dinner here late for six people, I think we sat down around 8pm. We were seated at a table pretty fast but the service to take our orders was slow. Once the food came… OMG! My BLT and fries were pretty standard, my husband liked his burger okay but the strawberry milkshake is where it’s at!!! Best milkshake I’ve had. So thick and cold you need a spoon. It hit the spot. We’d come back just for that.
This restaurant is amazing! It's a great flashback to the diners of years gone by. The decorations really make it fun just to visit but the food is the best reason to visit. We tried the burgers and the meatloaf and the potato salad and the fries, and the peach cobbler and the banana split.... All were very tasty, nicely presented, and at the proper temperature. And, of course, the service was just spectacular. A big shout out to Victoria for tending to our table, and making it an extremely enjoyable and fun visit. Well done everyone!
Super cute place. We had lunch. I had the Chicken Philly style cheese steak with fries. It was good, but the breakfast looked amazing. Staff was great! Very nostalgic old school "diner" feel. Would recommend for breakfast for sure!!
Phenomenal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cassie was incredibly helpful and accommodating - it was our first time dining here and we couldn't figure out what to order. She recommended the Catfish Dinner so we thought why not let's get it. The catfish was NO JOKE. Breaded and fried to golden perfection. Biting into a piece was like biting into a beautifully seasoned cloud. The same goes for their onion rings. We ordered a few more sides (see pic) and the Pulled Pork Sandwich.
We were surprised to learn that the Banana Split comes in two forms: 3 scoop OR 6 scoop. Perfect for sharing. We got the 3 scoop lol.
Total (meals + desert) = $39
The inside is also just as cute as the outside. Expect nothing less from a restaurant called Mel's Classic Diner. You won't regret eating here - the consistently filled parking lot speaks for itself.
Thanks Cassie!
Food was good. I have had better. But, not many. It's a definite grease spoon. The server was very attentive.
Great place to take the family.
It is very nostalgic. I would go here again just for the service.
We went here to start the day. Brought the family as it was friendly and safe.
The food was as good as it is hyped, but still good to make a point to go back when we travel here again.
The people made this. Something about the people in this area is always friendly,
This was our first visit to Tennessee and to Mel’s Diner. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was old 50’s style with cute decor and a jukebox. The waitresses were singing to the music. Not like a show, just bc they were happy. Our food was homemade and delicious. We had the Keith’s party melt and the homemade meatloaf. Dessert was the homemade peach cobbler and give all the food two thumbs up. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable and happy to be there. We dine out a lot and put Leah B on our top 5 servers list for sure. She is definitely an asset to Mel’s. thanks for an amazing lunch experience and the tips on parking for the rest of our day at pigeon forge!!!
