The atmosphere is really good. When I was there there were two djs playing. One inside, close to the entrance, and another in the patio area. The place was packed even though there is a $10 usd cover. The drinks were cheap but with cheap quality alcohol. We came to have fun, so we didn't care. I'll probably come back!
My experience at Club La Vida was just OK. The drinks were very overpriced—three drinks cost around $60 with tax, and the tip was already included on the receipt, which I didn’t appreciate since the service didn’t warrant it. The drinks themselves were underwhelming, with very little alcohol. As for the vibe, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The music was decent, but the overall atmosphere didn’t match my preferences. Probably not a place I’d return to.
Had fun going to Mala vida Sunday night. They had free tacos and free hot Cheetos. The bar had very cool neon sign murals. Great spot to take pictures, pretty ibstagranable. Good deal on beers, a bucket of 5 for $19, Tip included. ULovei was djing that night, good Latin music all night. Enjoyed this spot for Sunday funday in Austin, TX.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Paid over $400 for a VIP table only for it to smell like sewer the whole time and to only get served a small bottle of liquor after waiting over 30 minutes without any help or drinks from the bottle girls. You’ll also be surrounded by high school kids trying to sneak into your section. The absolute worst experience. I would not recommend anyone to come here especially for a special occasion. There’s other clubs and bars on the same street that play Latin music.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Be prepared to be barred from this place if you lean on anything! My cousin (who coincidentally was the only fully sober one) was not allowed in because he “looked tipsy” due to him leaning on the wall while we waited in line. I asked the security guards why he couldn’t come in and they wouldn’t give me a straight answer but told me I was free to go somewhere after they THOUGHT I had paid the ridiculous $20 cover. Luckily I refused to pay when I saw the security giving my cousin a hard time otherwise I would’ve been out of money and time instead of just time (waited 30 minutes in line due to security stopping and flirting with girls).
This is a critique of the building itself. There is no AC, not even in the restrooms. I went to use the ladies room and was in there for five mins max and I came out drenched in sweat, because not only is there no AC there is no ventilation either. And it smelled like pee. There was a $20 per person and the place was packed. For the amount of money this place makes, one would think they could invest in some fans and AC for the restroom and the inside area.
Aside from this, the music was very good and the atmosphere was great.
Nice place for dance but mostly Spanish music. There is large dancing area. Cocktails are good. Safe, there are many securitys.
One of the best locations in downtown Austin for latin music! Was able to celebrate a birthday there this past weekend and the servers were so nice once we got our table. Gets a little packed on weekends, but the overall vibes are great. If you do stop by, ask for Juliana! She’s one of the best bartenders there.
