Very accommodating for our Company Christmas Party.
Food was Top Notch.
A bit of a struggle to find the way to the Convention Center from inside the Resort.
Had to walk outside in 40° from room to CC and back.
Check in was a bit of a hassel.
Had a long walk to check in.
Then had to go back out and move in luggage.......then had to go back out and move vehicle to Car Park.
Then had to walk all the way back in.
Other than that 70 minute marathon (and needing a shower after).
The rest of the evening was entertaining.
Finally, we got a room that we love. It has 2 queens and 1 king, 2 baths all in the same space. Ground level. Perfect for 5 plus privacy for the adults. With the security of your children being right by your side!! However, at night, the lights aren't set up to separate the rooms. All off our all on. The heat control was not good for two separate rooms that like different temps.
First time here and the staff were so friendly and a great help. They showed us how to check in at the kiosk and even helped us to get the elevators that were closer to our room. The water park was amazing. So many different things to do that the weekend was simply not enough time to see everything. The food was amazing and my daughter loved the mozzarella sticks at the water park. Overall a really great first time experience! Already looking at dates to book again!
Felt like the stay I had was slightly over valued and I would have appreciated paying a little less than I did. but for a birthday celebration, it was good time. The hotel room was easy to access. I loved the one wristband for everything technology! No lost keys!
Some of the slides, notoriously the Victoria Falls, had exceptionally slow run rates. The Victoria Falls was sending a raft ever 23 minutes and the raft was not even full. Waited an entire hour for a ride and decided it was not worth doing it again. They only had one raft in rotation!
The outdoor area was fun but the slides suffered from a similar issue. I think they need to do a better job of filling the rafts to their capacity rather than only let 2 people go down in a 4+(?) sized raft.
Not sure when I will return, but I will. I had a good time and I hope to enjoy some of their slides slated for future construction.
I was here a few years ago and I had a blast. My brothers and I came here earlier this last week on Wednesday and stayed until Thursday morning before leaving. I understand that some of the water part was under construction and we tried to make the best of it. It really sucked to find out that they didn’t allow 4 people anymore for the water slides. The fact we have to wait 5-7 mins even now for a tube to get on the water slides and then find out it’s only 2 people only. I remember when it was 4. Overall maybe next time things will be a lot smoother and better as in regards to the water park. We did try the 7D game, which did have some technical difficulties. But it still was fun. The mini golf glow in the dark was fun. Had no issues. The food at the restaurant was amazing. Had burgers, Mac and cheese and Pina colada. The room was super nice but may have to do a lot of walking depending where your room is at. But overall hope to try it again another time when everything is a little bit more functional. Was a tad bit disappointing but we did make the best of it that we could.
I stayed at Kalahari Sandusky October 18-20, 2024 with my daughters. We were attending a dance conference that is held there annually. This is the third year we went and stayed at Kalahari, and the resort has gotten worse every year. The clientele in the hotel can get rough. It constantly smells like pot everywhere, inside and outside. In the evenings, we saw a lot of random, grown men by themselves in the arcade that weren’t with kids, hanging out in conners by the elevators and stairwells, just a weird vibe. There is a lot of shady behavior in and around the lobby/bar area, which is central to all of the hotels amenities. There were two sheriffs deputies patrolling in the hotel lobby each evening and overnight. I wouldn’t let my kids walk around the resort by themselves, I barely felt safe walking around with them myself. I don't even know if I would let them walk around the water park during the day although it's relatively contained. The staff and security do not care about shenanigans in the hotel. We had near constant ding-dong-ditching our first night (until 3am), people running up and down the hallways, pushing each other on the luggage carts, slamming doors, screaming in the halls. The front desk staff would not do anything about it. They acknowledged that it was happening but that it wasn't even hotel guests - i.e. it was people not staying at the resort who were running around the hotel after midnight doing this! The second night, the same stuff started happening, and I asked the people (teenagers and adults) to stop, which was a huge mistake, because the banging on the door, screaming obscenities and threats through the door again became again constant throughout the night. I am sure Kalahari is going to reply to this review, and ask me to reach out, but I spoke to 3 managers and someone who identified himself as the top manager at the hotel. I tried repeatedly to resolve this while I was there and was met with gaslighting from the staff. They wouldn't even send security to my floor. I wish I had searched the internet for information about the crime at Kalahari Sandusky before I went- If I had I would have never stepped foot inside.
Was checking on room rates to book a family vacation. Went back in the next day to book our vacation to find out that the rooms went up over $100 within one night for the same dates. When I called to ask about it, they say their rooms very every minute from how many rooms are available so if they get more rooms booked for that night, their rates go higher. Absolutely crappy way to do business in my opinion, and I will never even check to go to this place again.
I'm writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with my stay at Kalahari in November 2023. After driving from New York to Ohio, I was informed that the large room I booked for 12 people was no longer available.
Despite the initial inconvenience, I agreed to take any available room. However, the rooms were dirty, with bloodstains on the beds and fake eyelashes in the bathroom.
The situation took a disturbing turn when a man with a gun was spotted on the property, causing the arcade room to be locked down. My children were trapped inside, crying and traumatized. To this day, they are still traumatized by the experience.
The management offered a gift certificate as compensation, but when I tried to redeem it, I was told I had to pay $800 instead. The manager, Rick, RICK RICK THE ‘MANAGER’ of reservation was unhelpful and hung up on me three times.
I'm shocked and disappointed by the poor customer service, hazardous conditions, and deceptive business practices at Kalahari. I would not recommend this resort to anyone."
