Went for a visit and walked around. Although they are doing a lot of renovation to the front of hotel it's still beautiful. The Christmas tree in lobby is a great spot for a picture. Staff is super nice. A cup of hot cocoa and a seat outside is a nice way to spend an afternoon.
This review is for their event hosting. We just attended a large company holiday party hosted at the hotel. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The grounds were extremely festive and also extremely crowded. Parking was impossible. We waited 30 minutes to reach the valet parking stand to find out their parking was maxed out. They advised us to try street parking. We found street parking far away and uber-ed back to the hotel. The parking saga took an hour.
Finally at the holiday party, we were looking forward to getting a bite to eat and realized that the hotel catering couldn’t keep up with providing food. People were waiting in front of the kitchen entrance to catch caterers come out with new trays in order to get some food. Caterers basically didn’t make it down the hallway as their food ran out right by the kitchen door.
While the venue is truly magical for a holiday party, planners can put more thoughts into parking arrangements and providing adequate food for event attendees.
We attended a holiday party at the hotel Del Coronado so we decided to spend the night there. this wasn’t our first time staying there. We ended there once before about eight years ago for the same reason, but this is the first time certain things came delight that I just did not expect a hotel of this caliber to be lacking.|But first and foremost, it is a very interesting and beautiful hotel on a beautiful part of the San Diego Coast. The beaches are nice. The views are amazing and the history associated with this hotel make it a must visit for any first time visitor or even for San Diego local like us..|I was just surprised that there is no room service and that when you pick up your car from the valet you have no choice, but to go stand in line. There is no callout option.. last week but so many other hotels. It is way understaffed at the front desk. Expect weights for everything from getting a key replaced. Or calling for any type of information.. on the Saturday night of our event with the lobby completely packed with tourists and guests, I went to try to get a duplicate key for my wife. There were three desks one was the check-in desk second was the concierge desk and the third was like a tourist information desk. At approximately 9 PM on a Saturday with the lobby completely full of visitors there is nobody manning any of these desks.|Eventually, alone, customer service person showed up at the front desk and I was able to get my duplicate key, but aside from its history and excellent placement. This is no more than a three star hotel.
We stopped by for lunch and, yes, we were aware that it can be pricey. The building undergoing an extensive exterior renovation so it took us a few minutes to find the front entrance and the valet. Price: The valet charges $45 for the first two hours with $15 off if you spend over $100, which you will. Once in the interior of the building you will be tansported to an earlier time when hotels were elegant destinations. Beatiful woodwork through out the building. After viewing the interior we made our way out the beach area and found a table overlooking the beach with all it's activities. It's a perfect spot for people viewing. We ordered cocktails and each of us (3 in our party) ordered from the sandwich menu and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Price: Sandwiches with fries for three $236 with tip. |Is it worth a visit? Absolutely. Knowing it's pricey before you visit helps but it's worth every penny. We loved the experience. |Enjoy!
This was an amazing resort. Decorated for Christmas and every evening a special light show with snow at the end. The room was amazing with a view of the beach. The restaurant Series was wonderful. We had best night sleep with wonderful bedding and fluffy pillows.
Our recent 5 night Fall Break stay at the Hotel del Coronado was delightful, enhanced by beautiful October weather and truly excellent service. A standout was Chris at the pool bar, who went above and beyond to make sure our picky-eater daughter enjoyed her lunch by the pool. When she didn’t care for the sauce on her burger, he quickly brought her fresh lettuce and tomatoes to customize it to her liking—a small gesture that meant a lot to us as parents!||The ongoing construction didn’t affect our stay at all, and we found the maid service thorough and attentive. Our room—located on the 5th floor in the Views—was modern, clean, and comfortable with a beautiful view. As Diamond members, we were upgraded at check-in, and we decided to further upgrade our experience by paying an additional $100 per night for an ocean view room. This was absolutely worth it; the view made our stay even nicer. ||We went into town several times, and enjoyed gelato at Nado Gelato, quick and reasonably priced Mexican food at Miguel’s, and a delightful Italian dinner with friends at Garage Buona Forchetta. The restaurants in the hotel were also tasty, if extravagantly priced. ||Overall, the Hotel del Coronado exceeded our expectations, especially after reading some (in my opinion) overly critical TripAdvisor reviews. We’d happily stay here again, and look forward to the next time!
Coronado, CA. The historic hotel, the beautiful grounds, the stellar service and the connection to the community are legendary.
Our kids brought us here during the December holiday season. We were stunned at the magnitude of the lights, the outdoor furniture at the hot cider and cocoa bar, the sand statues, the ice skating rink, the igloos, the hotel shops, and the hotel lobby.

Thank you, Hotel Del Coronado. Our family lives you.
Staying at Hotel del Coronado in the winter is a magical experience. The iconic beachfront resort transforms into a winter wonderland with beautiful holiday lights and seasonal decor, creating a festive atmosphere. While it might be too chilly for swimming, the beach is still perfect for long walks, and the ocean views are just as breathtaking. The hotel offers special winter activities like ice skating by the sea, which adds a unique touch to the stay.
The rooms are cozy, and the historic charm of the hotel is especially inviting during the cooler months. Even in the off-season, the service remains top-notch, and the restaurants offer delicious seasonal menus. It’s the perfect destination for a winter getaway, whether you’re looking for relaxation or to enjoy some holiday spirit by the ocean
