This hotel was amazing from start to finish. The rooms are big and very luxurious. The grounds, restaurants and bars are all a definite go to. It is right on the sand. Each room has a view of either the bay or the courtyards. Greenery is all over with tons of pretty flowers. The Del Club and the cabana style room we had was nice. I wish the weather was better
We only went for a day visit; did not overnight. My daughter's first time to visit the Del. She loved the Victorian style, when you walk into the lobby you feel like its something out of Titanic. The main hotel is super cool as was the open hallways (the main building is under construction). What was open was cool including the main souvenir shop. When you go downstairs the new modern shops seem like out of Coney Island (somewhat odd and touristy). Went outside to the back facing the ocean and it was nice. It was cloudy and cold so we didn't venture on the sand but I imagine it would be really cool on a nice, hot summer day. Beach is expansive and inviting.|We returned to the lobby and sat on the rocking chairs outside to check out prices for a room. Expedia had it for over $1000 a room at various parts of the year. Since the rooms look way more modern (it's Hilton branded) I'm not so sure if they were worth it for that price (for us)|There wasn't a whole lot of customer service greeting us either at reception or the lobby so had I paid $1000 for Easter weekend, I might be pissed. I would like to see the hotel completely finished from construction to see if there is a price change (cheaper?) otherwise it would just be another day trip to visit the Del.|My daughter did like the Victorian style though.
Hotel del Coronado in San Diego is a magnificent place to stay. The historic charm, stunning beachfront location, and elegant architecture make it truly special. The service is exceptional, and the amenities are top-notch. It’s an ideal destination for a luxurious and memorable getaway. Highly recommended!
Unfortunately, there were many sections under construction. Antic decoration that is more than 100 years old. The hotel bar, which combines old jazz pop with its atmosphere and romance, was the best. It was a really beautiful hotel that felt older as it was old. The shopping arcade was a little cold due to natural ventilation caused by the sea breeze, but I couldn't give up ice cream. I'm definitely going to visit again when the construction is over.
What a stunning property! There are so many shops, restaurants, and things to do while here.
It's like your own little town, and you never need to leave.
I can't wait for the renovation to be done, and it will be even more amazing!
This hotel is the full package, beautiful location, so many things to do and a stones throw to the beach! We loved enjoying a drink in the main bar with views of the ocean, the service was phenomenal. Prices a bit high for the options but it’s a hotel bar so to be expected.
I participated in a walking tour of Coronado given to a private group with a 2-hour stop and this famous hotel. Built at a cost of $1 million in 1887-1888 and now Hilton Hotels is spending an incredible $480 million to renovate this beautiful historic landmark that must not be missed!
Our resent stay at the Del was disappointing to say the least. When we booked the staycation in March for Mother's Day weekend, we booked two queens, ocean view in the View. At check in we were routed to a resort view in the Cabana. Our view was the utility tent for the pool towels with bin in and out all day. Also we were across from the elevator, so at times quite the gathering. We got several emails prior highlighting "Fun in the Sun" with food/drinks/relaxing on the sun deck ...it was closed for renovations. We got one promoting the buffet with a picture of the grand ballroom. Turned out to be in the South Point Ballroom and at $185 appears to be a bit of price gouging. The historical tour was lame and not worth $40.|We did enjoy serval meals and especially at the Laundry and Serea. Food was great and service made it all the more enjoyable. Housekeeping was another stand out and Angelica was especially helpful several times.|With more than half of the Del closed for renovations, a clear heads up would have been nice.
