I had heard a lot about this place and figured I had to try it out. Everyone was ranting and raving about it. When I walked up, the line was already out the door, so I thought this would be a good thing. I was originally planning on dining in, but after a while I decided to take it to go and eat back at my hotel. Also I was disappointed that they ran out of ice cream and I couldn't try the root beer float.
• Lets start with the chicken. It has some good flavor. I grabbed the mild version and it had a little spice (wasn't trying to destroy my stomach for the next two days in case anyone is wondering) and overall decent flavor.
• The fries were very delicious in my opinion, one of the best parts of the meal.
• Now the not so great part, the desserts. The peach cobbler was less than desirable, I'm no chef but I feel like a little cinnamon in that would go a long way. It had no taste to it, I took about 4 bites and pushed it to the side. The banana pudding was pretty decent, I just expected a lot more out of it since it was hyped up so much.
All in all, I would eat here again, to try out the sandwich and possibly get my hands on a root beer float. I would also recommend this place especially if you like spicy chicken. I imagine the last two heat levels are keeping Tums and Rolaids in business.
Famous local chicken chain. Did not disappoint.
Chicken was cooked perfectly. The mild was plenty spicy. The medium was pretty hot. So be careful how spicy you ordered it. Be warned.
Really friendly, attentive staff for this kind of restaurant.
Every one of the sides was amazing. From the grits to the Black Eyed Peas salad to the fries and greens.
The fried pickles were just OK.
Will definitely be back
Super cool spot. Small single story rustic restaurant tucked in with skyscrapers. Very fun atmosphere! “Shut the cluck up!” Staff were friendly and helpful. Even with a split dinning area, they made several trips to clean up and offer service. My food came quick and it was delicious!
Best chicken in Nashville! The Mac and cheese is 10* greens is very spicy. We eat here every chance we get, at least two or three times a month. The different locations are different as the one on lower Broadway is the best!! Mgr is awesome. Service is great but there will be a line. That should tell you something about the food.
Hattie B's is a must! It's Nashville Hot Chicken. It's what they are known for.
I'll start with the service as it goes two way. First, the big lady behind the counter was an absolute gem - she was sweet, she didn't rush you, she was polite and informative, it was that southern hospitality. Protect her at all costs. Second, because there was only one person at the counter, the line outside moved unnecessarily slow. There was still about 50+ seats always available inside, but the ordering process is slow.
The chicken came out fast and tasty - it was very good. The "Shut the Cluck Up" is very very hot, don't be a hero if you don't like hot it'll rip your a-hole apart.
The waffle was incredibly sweet, which was really good. It wasn't soft or warm or fluffy, it was sugary, and different - great with the syrup and butter.
Both grits and mac were great sides.
I'd highly recommend this Hattie B's location.
Yummy. I'd wish I had chosen peach cobbler over banana pudding. Can't explain why pudding taste was off? Cornstarch maybe/too sweet maybe?. Otherwise everything else was very good. Chicken pieces are large. Collards great and does have some spice so if you don't like spicy you may want to select a different side. Grits were yummy. I forgot to order side of waffle with my meal as there was a line and I forgot by the time I got up to order. I think price was food based on quality of food. This location parking is limited. We were lucky we got a spot even though we were there for takeout we were prepared for one to hop out and get in line and other person to circle around to find parking but again we were super lucky. One notch for atmosphere simply due to only 2 bathroom stalls and had to wait as one was either locked or ? And very small tight space no specific area to wait for order.
Absolute perfection when it comes to tenders and sides. I had the 3 tender meal with medium heat level. It had some good heat without being too much! However if you want hotter, they definitely can bring the heat out for you. I highly recommend the prosciutto cheddar grits and pimento Mac n cheese. They also had a whisky coke icee which was refreshing and delicious. I highly recommended this place for authentic Nashville hot chicken.
The line seemed long, but it moved quickly. We ordered it at the counter and the service was great and the food and chicken was very good and tender. The hot one wasn’t quite as hot as I expected. My wife does not eat fried chicken, but loved this.
