Went on a 4 day 3 night trip here and had an amazing time. We absolutely love how interactive and kid directed the hotel is. The kiddos loved going around with their magic wands and having a blast. Our older kiddo loved story time and dance parties. I love that this place is not only just a water park but so much more. The water park itself though was great even for our littles who were slightly over two at the time of our visit. We definitely plan to come back for another visit soon!
We had a good experience generally. Very small child friendly, and the hotel/park employees go out of their way to make it fun. Water park was good and the water was a good temp. It didn't smell overwhelmingly chlorine or pool like. Amenities and restaurants were good for kids, but nothing super adventurous. The candy could have a better assortment for the candy cups, but the ice cream scoops were generous. The only other complaint was about the bed mattresses. They were very too soft and not supportive at all.
Stayed here for two days and for the most part the stay was enjoyable. I never received a text as I was advised that my room was ready to check in I had to reach out to their virtual assistant Willow. The room was big enough for everyone and was clean. Issues with the room were my balcony faced the garbage compactor which you can hear staff going out at all hours and throwing garbage away. I also couldn't use the balcony because all of outside smelled of weed. I was in the vending room and dropped some ice and the cleaning crew happened to be outside of the vending room when this happened. When I informed them I accidentally dropped ice the cleaner proceeded to hand me a broom. I don't mind cleaning my mess up but a broom wasn't going to do it and they didn't understand my English I was speaking to them about it. As for the water park the first day everything was great everyone had fun. The second day the very first slide we went to go on there was only one attendant watching 4 slides and the attendant couldn't help everyone at once and my son was having an issue getting into the tube before the current was pulling him down the slide and when I called her out she stated "we'll a lot of people decided to call off today" we then stayed off the slides until they could get enough staffing. For the price and location of it Camel Beach appears to be the better safer choice for my dollar spent and my families safety.
Had a great time! Staff was nice. Events were fun. Food was good, although a bit pricey. Went out of the resort a few times to get food to save some money. The pool was fun but the extreme smell of chlorine gave us asthma after a while. Also Was a bit disappointed that the wave pool was closed. However, will still return.
We spent 2 nights and 3 days at the water park. My kids, aged 4 and 7, loved it. They enjoyed the outdoor pool and the wave pool. We spent a good 5 hours in the water. They used up all their energy and went to bed early as if by magic. It was just the right amount of time in the park . The rooms were quiet and the staff were very helpful.
My family of four (kids ages 5 and 7) recently stayed at GWL Poconos. We were pretty disappointed with the quality/cleanliness of the rooms. They are in DIRE need of updates. Upon first walking in, it seems nice enough, then you slowly start to notice things like dust on all the fixtures and surfaces, the old furniture that has clearly been repurposed, the trim and flooring shoddily installed, other people's hair in the sink and shower, old/outdated plumbing fixtures, lamps hanging from literal strings, etc.; things you would absolutely not expect for the price you pay. A couple major safety issues as well; outlets falling out of walls, destroyed USB plugs, and one side of our sliding glass door to the balcony could be completely pushed outside the frame. As for the water park, it's pretty much what you can expect for a crowded, busy indoor water park. The problem is that their lodging has a much higher capacity than the water park. When you consider the fact that every person staying in the Lodge, Tower and Villas are likely all going to the same place at some point during the course of one day, plus the park is open for day passes, there are way, way too many people for this park. To be honest, the lines were not all that bad, but every pool was shoulder to shoulder, there was no place to find a seat for towels, shoes, etc. You couldn't even wade in the pool without someone splashing the highly chlorinated water in your face, eyes and mouth over and over again. One thing about the water park is that they do not hire enough staff to properly supervise/manage guests. It was basically a free for all. There were a few rides that required tubes only found in the lazy river. We had to go in the lazy river to find tubes to carry to the ride, it was a real effort just to get in line for a ride. And again, too many people, not enough tubes. Poor staff member /lifeguard Makayla was working TWO busy rides all by herself. It is 84 degrees in this facility (probably warmer with the thousands of bodies) the water is heated, and she was having to run back and forth to both slides to get people set up. She was there for hours. I was sweating just watching her. She maintained a great attitude through it all and deserves a raise. There were also not staff members/lifeguards at any of the attractions. Kids were skipping lines, climbing up the slides the wrong way, and nothing was enforced. Build a Bear was an absolute joke - no adoption certificate, workers were miserable. Overall, in my opinion, this place is highly overpriced and overrated.
I was hoping for so much more. We arrived on Friday and we were staying all weekend. Myself, 2 21 year old daughters and twin 2 year olds I went up to the First Lady at the desk because we needed a restroom. All we were told was “down the hall”. There’s a couples halls. That started our experience.|We checked ourselves in, which is whatever but we figured it out. |Our room was assigned. No patio or balcony. Just a window, which had screws to prevent you from opening it far…..or did they. No because we opened the window the whole way. |The carpet was dirty and the bathroom floor was sticky. There is no sink in the bathroom, it’s in the room. |I went outside to run to the car and knew I could back in because I had my wristband…..or could I. No I could not. The door locks and the panel is missing. So walked to the front of the building and all the way back to my room(which is above the locked door).|We went to the waterpark on Saturday. What a chaos mess that is. There is sooooo many people, you can barely move. (I knew there would be a lot of people on the weekend but there was wayyy too many). My twins were being pushed, ran over and just disregarded. |Not only do they allow hotel guests but they also sell day passes. I think they should take into consideration how many people are in the hotel before selling passes.|There were no inner tubes for the lazy river because they use the same for the slides. But no worry, you can walk the lazy river in about two minutes. There were no chairs and make sure you take your life jacket because there weren’t any extras. |After about an hour, we went back to the room. Figured id settle the kids down and have them watch tv. Don’t plan on watching Disney or Nickelodeon because those didn’t come on. |The “free” WiFi is ridiculous. You can connect but it doesn’t work really. Also, phone service, for myself, didn’t work well in the room. |When you check out…..watch for the $15 a day ticketless parking…..yes, that’s right, they charge you to bring your family and PARK YOUR OWN CAR.|So all in all, our first experience was not great and there probably won’t be a second experience.
Let's be real... This is an indoor water park in the Poconos so of course it's cheesy. Unless you go off site or pack well, expect a lot of overpriced fried food and sugary drinks, etc.
That said, my kid had a great time and my husband and I did too. The water park was well maintained and our room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely come back, and a 1-2 night stay is a perfect amount of time to spend there if you aren't coming from too far.
