We really enjoyed this trip and the remodel. I have been here about 5 times since they originally opened. I did learn that winter season is much busier than summer season, the wait times were the only downside, especially the elevator wait, but not enough to take away a star. Their sit-down dining was great, and the arcade was the favorite of the kids (besides the water park). I appreciate their standard for cleanliness throughout the lodge. I see someone constantly cleaning, no litter stands a chance.
I recently stayed at Great Wolf Lodge for my son's birthday, and while my kids love the place, this visit was marred by an extremely frustrating experience with towel charges.
I booked several rooms under my credit card for our group. We all used the pool at different times, and while there was a sign about returning towels to avoid a $15 charge, no one at the towel desk informed us of this policy. Fortunately, my family saw the sign and returned our towels, but one member of our group, who doesn’t speak or read English well, did not notice it.
At checkout, they were given the expected final amount with no mention of missing towels. However, the next day, both my friend and I received unexpected charges of $105 each for towels. This was confusing, especially since it was not my room—my friend's charges were linked to her bracelet and bank card.
I called customer service to explain the situation and was assured it would be resolved quickly. However, two days later, I was still receiving text messages threatening collections. This was especially frustrating because we had returned our towels, and the issue should have been straightforward to address. Additionally, every time I called, I was given conflicting information, often after waiting on hold fora over an hour. Meanwhile, the representatives never missed an opportunity to try to sell me resort packages.
If you're going to charge for towels, staff should make this policy abundantly clear—at the towel desk, in the pool area, and at checkout. This experience turned a fun birthday celebration into a frustrating and exhausting ordeal. While my kids love Great Wolf Lodge, this situation makes me hesitant to return.
We had so much fun. This was our first time visiting. The rooms were super nice and the place was so cool inside. They had an arcade & gift store inside. We ate at the all you can eat breakfast buffet. I would suggest coming early as we came late so the food wasn't the best But the servers were so sweet and kind. We played in the water park all day.It was so much fun. The wave pool, the big water slides that you ride tubes down, the play structure that water pours down from and the hot tubs , one inside and one outside. It was a blast! We will definitely be going again and recommending to others.
Our room did not have any problems. We came with a friend and her room had Band-Aids in the bathtub. I'm not sure if it's new policy but they did not provide room service to us at all. We used to come here all the time, however, recently this place has turned into a money grab. It's almost as if they had a private company come in and ask them to monetize absolutely everything they could. Food prices were ridiculous, drink prices were ridiculous and on top of that you now have to pay for parking. Yes, I know we stayed at a resort but this is ridiculous. Not only that the restaurants they replaced are not as good as the original ones. There used to be ample space on the pool deck however at least a third of it was taken with cabanas. Happy to see those prices finally went down. Unfortunately this will be the last time my family ever comes to this establishment. Used to be so wholesome and a great place to take kids. Don't even get me started on the little boy who hit his face on a dangerous rocking horse. The staff that works here were so highly trained in responding to that situation leading me to believe children are hurt here frequently. While we were sitting at the dance party we noticed multiple children nearly have the same accident. And finally they have a policy that you cannot give room access to a child under 14. For the amount of money that I'm spending I should be able to give whoever I want access to my room. I appreciate the fact that they ended up getting my daughter access.
The family has been going two times a year for nearly a decade. Rooms are always clean, staff is always polite, life guards in the park appear to be vigilant and attentive (not a substitute for good parental supervision) and the water park portion is always clean and well kept. Over all I have been very happy with all our stays and would not hesitate to recommend this great sold lodge to any one wanting a fun, clean, and enjoyable outing.
Cons: My only real con is they have recently started charging for parking. I hope they don't continue to add little nickel and dime charges as they would negate Great Wolfs major advantage of being a great 1 or 2 day affordable family get away.
I'll start from 1 star based on my experience. Here is why.
I went to a store to purchase a wand for kids and the want comes with two piece. A wand itself and the top part that contains battery. They are placed separately next to each other. Naturally my kids and I put them together and on the way to the cashier. That's when this young lady with condescending tone told us not to put them together as it could break and she took the wand away from my kid and put it back to the shelf. My kid seemed bit shocked.
I complained that there is no sign saying don't assemble prior. If such a big deal you guys need to make it clear. Her tone TOTALLY RUINED our vacation mood. We came here to have fun not get scold for something that you did not clearly make any effort to prevent from happening. Or at least speak to us with professional manner.
This happened 11/1 10am approx. Don't know the name but she needs some training how to speak to a customer.
If this didn't happen it would have been a good experience. Not sure I'll ever want to come back.
Our family just came back from a weekend away at the resort overall we had fun our kids age 7 and 11 really had a good time the pros : the pool and facilities slides are all very clean the wait times are moderate which you wouldn't think so looking at how busy the parking lot is. inside the resort there was all always some sort of entertainment happening.
The cons:
It is incredibly expensive if you add up all the cost for the packages and eating out, it is definitely not affordable for the average family as well. The restaurants that are there are mostly greasy food. There is a really good burger restaurant just down the street that we checked out and we're glad that we did. It was really good, burger claim was the name. Inside the resort food choices are blah. A pizza place that serves Costco like pizza for $22-25 , a fat burger , a sit down restaurant that has more upscale food but tasted like red robin , an ice cream shop that was good and a pretzel place that was awful. 2 days eating there makes you really want to eat a salad.
The standard rooms are dated , the bathrooms especially , old tubs and floors , was clean though.
The resort felt pretty under staffed. All restaurants , pool side. Lobby and shops. It was a bit odd even during peek hours it felt under staffed.
Lastly , the check out time are 11am and for some reason the staff are out at 945 am beginning to check on people to clean early. Not a few, all room. I witnessed multiple angry people staff are knocking to see if they have left or not , open doors and yell at staff. It was bizzare . Especially seeing how check in isn't until 4pm. It's like they are rushing people out immediately which is odd. Was very weird to see. We left at 1030 so didn't affect us but very odd. Over all, good place to take your kids under 10, teens not so much, very pricey. Don't think we would go back
Our family has been going to this Great Wolf Lodge location for many years almost a decade now. We have always had an enjoyable time here, we really haven't ever had any issues.
This year it was a completely different story.... Upon arrival we noticed the parking lot was completely full and wondered why.
My husband checked into the room and was informed that there is a new parking fee that we were not made aware of before we arrived. There are now parking gates in and out of the parking lot. He inquired about the parking fees and said "I'm staying as a guest here and I am required to pay for parking in addition to the resort fees?"
On that note: In my opinion it would be acceptable for day pass users to have to pay the parking fee. As a guest of the hotel I believe the parking should be validated and there should be a separate area for guests at the hotel VS day pass users. That is not the case, so even though you are a guest of Great Wolf Lodge there's no parking available most of the day.
The swimming pool area hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check in time is at 4:00 p.m. and day users are allowed to be there all day long so the lines and the amount of people has gotten out of control. There is no extra time for guests after 8:00pm to be able to swim when there is not as many people in the swimming area to get their money's worth .
There was a recent remodel of the hotel and the room we stayed in was the majestic bear suite It was beautiful and very cozy.
Negative: they've taken out all of the body mirrors in the rooms You are left with only the mirror in the bathroom.
The vending machine would not dispense any drinks and I still don't know if it's going to charge me for the four different times I attempted keep you posted.
Overall this was not a good experience we will not be staying at the Great Wolf Lodge again very sad day.
