I have always enjoyed the variety of slots here and can usually sit right down at any machine right away. It can get crowded at times. Really wish there were more ATM/voucher kiosks scattered throughout. Also, not having a self service area for soft drinks and coffee is a negative. I sometimes find myself at the bar just to get a beer when servers rarely ever appear while I'm playing on the casino floor. Other than that, the restaurants are good and the place is nicely kept.
It's a casino, and while everything is how you would hope, everything is how you'd expect. The amalgamation of stale cigarette smoke and industrial cleaners are everywhere. That aside, every experience, from a live DJ club after a private room catered for a birthday party with friends, was delightful, well appointed, and well worth every dime we left there.
My room was dirty and very dusty. My shower was broken for 4 days. Everything is super expensive. No refrigerator or a microwave unless you pay an extra $70 per night for both. They didn’t offer to take anything off my bill just a one night future stay with an expiration date.
I recommend going across the street to the LaBerge hotel and casino. I stayed there a few months ago and everything was perfect and very clean!
The Golden Nugget looked and smelled nice and clean on the outer walkways of the casino. We did happen to gamble and eat at Saltgrass there. We didn't have much luck and were not super impressed with the Saltgrass taste of food. The service was excellent, but our steaks were not cooked well and had to be remade for two of us. That is the reason for the 4 ???? rating. Other than that, the place looked nice and they did have several machines and tables. We didn't stay at the hotel but may try it out a different time.
I am surprised at how many people have left positive reviews, I had a very negative experience during my stay. First, I called to see if anything would be complimentary for our stay as it was my husband's birthday, I was transferred several times to be told I could purchase something once we got there, which would defeat the purpose and would be overpriced. That wasn't a huge deal, just surprising for a hotel that charges a "resort fee" I expected more "resort" treatment. We played the slot machines for quite some time and never were offered a beverage (which are supposed to be free). We had to go to the bar ourselves and were told that if we don't sit at the bar's slot machines and spend even more money that we would have to pay for our drinks.. Even though we had been playing slots for a few hours at this point...
The day we stayed, apparently the hotel does not offer room service after 12pm which was very odd and disappointing as we wanted to have dinner in our room after we had to go and purchase our own alcohol since the hotel was stingy. So, we order door dash to the hotel, we needed utensils for our food so I called down to the lobby to request this as well as cups because there was no glassware with our ice bucket and we were going to have to use our paper coffee cups that were in the room. I was told they could only bring me extra coffee cups and that if we needed serve ware, we would have to go down to the lobby ourselves and ask one of the restaurants... I have stayed at Best Westerns that offer better customer service and amenities than this.. don't waste your money and definitely don't expect the "free" drinks that are promised.
Had a great stay at this resort. Vic and Anthony's Steak Restaurant had great food, atmosphere, and service.
The pool has a swim-up bar, and there is a lazy river with plenty of chairs spread around for relaxing.
The sports book was great for watching games.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly and nice. The entire facility is well maintained and clean.
I recently stayed at the Golden Nugget Casino, and I have mixed feelings about my experience.
First, the check-in process was quite frustrating. The line was long, and it was extremely hot while we waited. On a positive note, the check-in hosts were friendly, which helped ease some of the frustration.
Unfortunately, our room left much to be desired. For the price we paid, I expected a nicer accommodation. The lamps didn’t work properly, some light bulbs were out, and the furniture had rips. It felt like the room was falling apart, which was disappointing.
Additionally, I had a poor experience at the pool bar. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unfriendly, which really affected my enjoyment. It was such a deal breaker that I decided to check out two days early. If I can’t relax and enjoy myself, there’s no point in staying longer.
On a brighter note, I did enjoy the spa—it was a nice, relaxing escape that I really needed. However, unless you’re primarily there to gamble, I would suggest looking for a different place. The casino itself felt quite dead, and there seemed to be a lack of control with staff running around trying to manage the tables.
Overall, while the Golden Nugget has potential, my experience fell short of expectations.
Love this hotel! It has a Vegas vibe. I hit the jackpot on a slot, the attendant was very pleasant & helped me understand the process. It was a very enjoyable experience! All of the staff I came across here was very nice. I didn't stay in a room, it was just a quick day trip but definitely would come back & stay. The restaurants on site are good!
