Fantastic homemade fries. You can tell that all they are are unpeeled potatoes fried for just the right amount of time and just the right temperature. Crunchy, chewy, steamy, not greasy.
The hot dog was also great and made a really nice package deal with the fries. Soft bun, but not soggy. Snappy sausage, fully loaded dog without falling apart or being impossible to fit in your mouth.
If you can make the trip out here, this is a definite recommendation from me.
7/2024 4* The food was good. Not outstanding, but good. It is a plain old hotdog. Generic really. And no ketchup available. I can eat it either way, but I do prefer ketchup. The fries were AMAZING though! Fresh cut right there. Totally awesome! The price was really good. Cheaper than other Hot Dog places. The hot dogs are better elsewhere. But the fries were worth coming back for.
The atmosphere is not what I am used to. Standing room only. We made the most of it. And enjoyed ourselves. But it is not what I planned. Also, no refills on drinks. The prices were cheaper than other competitions. I suppose that makes it a pretty good deal.
The service was friendly and good. Kind of different. But fun.
Legendary Chicago spot !!!
Seriously, the best service. The staff are friendly and super efficient. There was a bit of a line, but it moved so fast. It was no biggie, and the food was totally worth the wait. We had the double Chicago dog with fries and a tamale. Grape drink, of course...NEVER SKIP THE GRAPE DRINK !!! We ate on the trunk of the car since I forgot the folding chairs. On the way out, we met an older fella who said he was moving to Florida but had to stop Gene and Judes one last time. He told an emotional tale of how he used to ride his bike up there with his friends when he was 12. He said he loved the place and was gonna miss it for sure... That folks, is the power of good food done right !!!

This place is always packed and for good reason! They have the BEST hot dogs in Chicago! If you’re from out of town, I highly recommend coming here…you might even see the hot dog lady while you’re there! Get a dog with everything on it, you won’t be disappointed!
They open at 10.30 and at 10.25 there was a line of 30 people ready to get the best hot dog in the city. And it WAS. Highly recommended. No frills, no ketchup, no problem. It was sooooo good.
Lucky to have this spot in the Chicagoland area. Anytime I’m nearby I get dogs to consume on site and to go. They stuff the dogs with fries. I repeat stuff the dogs with fries. It’s heaven on earth. Realllll good stuff. Don’t forget to get a grape pop.
I absolutely loved this, got great help from Hector. I order 2 hot dogs with fries, a med Root beer, and a corn roll tamales. (If you've had HM tamales, I'd pass on the corn roll tamales). These hot dogs were the best I have ever had. Really like how fast they were and how clean everything was. Coming back for sure!!!

Hot dogs are the bomb, the epitome of a traditional Chicago dog. The fries are freshly handcut and have a nice caramelized exterior. Food was quick, inexpensive and hits the spot.
