Wonderful Stay at Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando
We recently stayed at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, and overall, it was an amazing experience. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, with so much to do and see—whether you’re relaxing by the pool, exploring the lush indoor gardens, or enjoying the various activities. The highlight of our stay was definitely the incredible ice sculpture experience, which was both unique and breathtaking.
The dinner service was good, though it didn’t quite meet the level of excellence we expected from such a top-tier venue. The food was tasty, but it was a bit on the pricey side for the portions and quality offered. That said, the resort’s amenities and overall atmosphere more than made up for this small shortcoming.
Despite a couple of minor issues, we would definitely return to Gaylord Palms. It’s a perfect place for both relaxation and adventure, with something for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Orlando!
CONSUMER BE AWARE. This is an absolutely beautiful place. However, we simply went for the ICE Display yesterday during our Weekend trip to Orlando for a birthday. The ICE Display was amazing with such artwork and attention to detail. Where they get you in the Parking. I could not believe it was $40.00 for parking for about an hour and a half. The person checking us out for parking stated that "they are trying to buy their kids new hotels by gauging the guests on parking fee's" This is an absolute travesty to some people who do not have that kind of money to just throw out. The owners of this establishment should be ashamed of themselves for charging anything for parking, especially this high amount. Just be aware of this charge because it is not mentioned when you buy the tickets.
Disappointed in the ICE experience… first I will start by saying we purchased tickets for 30$ a piece (2 adults) and after fees and taxed , our total for JUST the ICE attraction was 90$. We arrived at the hotel and were shocked that they charge 38$ to park. Once inside, we realize this place is massive! The inside is really beautiful and we followed the signs to find ICE however it had us going in circles to the point where we finally asked a staff member and she led us in the right direction which took us through a huge part of the hotel and into the lower level. (The signage could be improved significantly) . We went through the ICE attraction and it was really beautiful!! Don’t underestimate when they say it is 9 degrees , it is so cold in there and we are from the chilly Midwest. Definately bring gloves ! It’s nice they provide a parka. The attraction itself was very short and it didn’t feel like 90$. At the end, they want to sell you your family photos which are two packages offered for 60$ or 50$ and no option to purchase one photo, the photo itself was terrible and all our eyes were red.
We wish we could’ve enjoyed the rest of the attractions but everything costs separate and the prices are very high once you piece everything together. Had we not had to pay 38$ to park we may have considered one more thing. We asked staff members for an easier way back to our parking and she had no clue how to get to the lobby of the hotel, instead she offered a map that didn’t make sense because we were already so lost. Another hotel guest helped guide us through and find our way to the parking lot. We will not be returning unfortunately , this is not a cost friendly attraction for family’s.
Well, this certainly a great place to stay! Very clean with a nice atrium! Rooms were nice but very loud! We believe they were practicing for an upcoming even but went into the evening all nights we were at the resort. Food was good, staff was excellent! On the final day of being here they shut the water off before check-out which made it impossible to flush the toilet or shower which is obviously frustrating when you are about to drive 9 hours. The parking attendants were slow on car retrieval but they were busy. When I compare the cost to the hotel I give it 3 stars especially compared to the other Gaylord stays we have had over the years! DC National Harbor and Nashville tying for the best to date. Sorry, but we would not recommend the one in Colorado...
ICE was fantastic and the kids had a blast. My only regret is we did not get there earlier to fully enjoy everything. We will certainly be back. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The event was also well organized and very efficient and fun!
BEWARE OF EXCESS HIDDEN FEES ON EVENTS. Took the family to ICE! The exhibit itself cost $56.46 as a special promotion for 2 adults and 1 child. The exhibit was pleasant, and the property is very nicely decorated for the holiday season. We ate at Wreckers Sports bar and the food was pricey, but as expected for a place on campus (Roughly $100 after tip for 2 adult meals, 1 kids menu meal and a modest appetizer with no soft drink or alcohol). I suggest planning better than I did to eat off campus for better food and better prices. Overall, I would have rated my experience between 4-5 stars. However, the very low rating comes from the resort's practice of charging $38 (plus tax) for parking without no mention of this on the ticket confirmation.
I returned for what is going to be my final time trying to enjoy the annual Ice display. And it's a shame, because I actually had a nice time. But Gaylord Palms always has to sour the night with some underhanded tactics.
We went for my birthday. We bought tickets. We bought good and alcohol. We came and spent a fair amount of money. And we were fine with it all until Gaylord Palms surprised us with a $40 parking ticket trying to leave.
$40. For being onsite maybe two hours. Before this, it's been getting charged more than once for Ice tickets and the resort not caring about us enough to look into it.
It's a gorgeous resort, and the staff are friendly. But I'm tired of being a local that gets scammed by a major company year after year.
Was at the ICE event tonight! It was fun and I understood the pricing. It must cost a fortune to keep that place COLD! However, you will move through the event quickly so this is not a family friendly event cost wise. Unless you want cute pictures bundled up. Great photo ops. I had actually decided to add on the Cirque show once we had gotten to the event which was double the cost of purchasing online. Then was shocked to see a FREE standby line waiting for empty seats that would not be purchased. Doesn’t seem fair. But where I was extremely unhappy and will never recommend anyone go to this event for this reason was because NEVER in a million years did I think parking would cost $42?!? We were there a total of two hours and had already spent $135 including light snacks for two. If I had known I never would have gone. Very disappointing.
