Best WLM Reviews
I was in DC and wanted to try a nice brunch spot. I saw this place as highly recommended, I decided to sit at the bar. The waitress was very friendly and greeted me with a nice smile. I asked her what was the most popular item on the menu and she told me the chicken and waffles. The waffle was very crispy and good, the chicken was seasoned very well and the eggs were great. I had a great time here and I will visit again.
I'm writing this review as I digest my Founding Farmers DC Thanksgiving meal. It was so good! The $47.50 per person meal included a tray of breads & spreads, a starter (soup or salad), the main course and a dessert. It was absolutely worth it.
The breads were fresh and the spreads, delicious (house jam, sweet potato butter & whipped honey butter).
I tried both starters. The butternut squash soup was velvety and comforting. The salad was big, crisp and nicely mixed.
For the main course, we had the tasty, tender, roasted turkey and Southern fried chicken, which had a lovely homemade quality. The fixings were plentiful and exquisite (see pics).
The desserts were amazing. We chose the salted caramel cheesecake (which actually tasted like caramel, 10/10) and the chocolate cream pie, which is everything its name promises and more!
The service was adequate, the atmosphere was relaxed and it was a perfect Thanksgiving meal for us.
I came here with family that was in town visiting. This is always a go to spot whenever I have people in town. There was about a twelve minute wait for our table despite the reservation. Once we sat down it was fantastic. Our server was kind and extremely helpful with questions. I had the hibiscus soda for the first time which was amazing and highly recommend. It wasn’t too sweet. I had the pot roast as a main and it was great.
What a truly wonderful Thanksgiving meal. We've experienced other similar concepts, but all missed the mark in some component. Founding Farmers was impeccable in every way. They started by spoiling us with creamy, light, homemade butters and jams that put the cornbread, biscuits, and rolls simply over the top. My proper gin and tonic could not have been better. The butternut squash soup that followed had so many levels of flavors and spices that it's difficult to describe, other than sheer perfection. The rest of our meal was equally impressive and delicious. We enjoyed pumpkin pie, chocolate cream pie, and pecan pie for dessert- all were excellent. Service was flawless as well. We will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving at Founding Farmers yesterday! Before I post photos of this location and the meals we enjoyed, I just want say the staff here is terrific and do everything they can to make your visit fun and memorable. We'll be back again at Christmas ???? for another visit, rest assured. Enclosed are pictures of the exterior, the salmon and turkey entrées we ordered, dessert and Ricky, part of the management team, a heck of a nice guy and a snazzy dresser! If you don't want to cook on Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter and you want to enjoy a delicious, fun experience, make dinner reservations here!
Jorge was attentive, fast, and extremely accommodating! We were a large group of 10 he got appetizers out so early and every drink was served perfectly! What an amazing restaurant overall!
I got the prime rib(recommended temp: medium). It was the last order for the night and I could not be happier!
Fantastic casual place to get good food in Downtown Washington DC! Food was well cooked and flavorful and their cocktails are great for a quick buzz. You can taste how fresh the food is. The Chicken Pot Pie is non traditional so it doesn't come in a bowl shaped pastry bowl but the puff pastry atop of the pie given was outstanding! The place seems very popular but in small bursts but the service was on point and Curtis was a kind server. For brunch, making an RSVP is highly recommended!
Delicious southern American style food. Meat options are flavorful and soft. Highly recommend trying their desserts, especially apple pie.
Cocktails are great as well, especially blackberry sour. We had also ordered beer, but it came at room temperature. Our waitress mentioned that they are unable to serve cooler than that. They accommodated our request to swap.pir beer for a cocktail, which was nice. There are only a handful vegetarian options.
Highly recommend getting reservations ahead of time. It runs very busy.
