Best WLM Reviews

It wasn’t nearly as good as some of the other Disney hotels. It was around average the people that stay there are very simple people. The best part of it was the fishing was cool. It’s a real pain in the ass to park your car and drag your bags to your room and have to figure out how to get them up the steps yourself with no help. No elevators in the building buildings that have your room everybody was complaining. Seriously all the money that Disney has. They can’t put elevators in each one of those buildings for people to go up and down with their heavy luggage. It was pretty, but we would never go back there again.
Great experience with VERY accommodating and nice staff members. I with there was a dresser in our room, but not a big deal with the layout. I personally like the alligator bayou to give the feel of less people and relaxing after long days at the parks. The bus transportation is great with multiple stop locations to make it easier to get to and from your room.
We stayed in the Royal Room and it was lively. The details throughout the room kept our kids occupied while we unpacked and repacked and during our stay.
The fireworks lights on the headboard were adorable.
The property was well maintained with frequent bus stops throughout and our room (Oak Manor on Magnolia Bend) was not terribly far from the lobby, restaurants, buses or boats.
The movie night was also held right outside our building.
I would definitely stay here again.
This is a really big resort. The grounds are huge. Finding the room was easy enough. You never have to talk to anyone as you just check in and check out on your phone. The rooms are very clean and whole not huge they are nice. The best part is that grounds are beautiful and nice for walking around. Parking is free.
We love this Disney resort. Over the years we have stayed there at least three times. It's a good break from the resorts for our family with one special needs child. It's got lovely walking paths to get you around the resort, tons of beautiful big trees and water views. There's the water taxi to get you to Disney Springs with lovely views. The cafeteria is great, always great service and minimal lines even though like all of Disney it can get quite crowded. The pool is always lots of fun, plus there is the quiet pool. There's of course much more but these are the qualities that stand out for our family. It is a larger resort so if waking is not your thing this resort may not be for you. We find it recharging for our family.
We usually stay at the sister hotel - Port Orleans French Quarter however we were unable to get a reservation this year and had often walked over to riverside and thought it looked lovely. The room was clean, well equipped and had extremely comfy beds. The character privacy curtain was a lovely touch. |The pool areas were lovey. We used the quieter pool next to our room which was great for a late evening swim after a busy day at the parks. They also supply free towels next to the pool. |The staff were nice however we did not find them as friendly as the French quarter who always went above and beyond. On arrival staff could see my wife had a walking stick, however there was no offer to assist us with the luggage. We hadn’t quite realised how far away our room would be and the pathway wasn’t the easiest to manoeuvre our cases along. When checking out our room we decided we would call for someone to collect our luggage for us. We rang for 45mins with no answer. |The dining hall had your average food options. We opted to purchase a refillable mug however the drink options were extremely limited. 2 machines were out of service, one served flat Diet Coke instead of Coca-Cola and there was no option for the usual flavoured cokes. |I will be glad to return to the French quarter next year.
Disappointing Stay at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside – Housekeeping and Management Fell Short
Our recent two-night stay at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside was meant to be a restful start to our 16-day vacation. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by significant housekeeping and management issues that left us frustrated and disappointed. This, unfortunately, reflects a broader trend we’ve noticed at Disney resorts in recent months—declining cleanliness and maintenance standards.
Check-In and Housekeeping Problems: Upon arrival, my brother was assigned a room around 11 AM after flying overnight to Orlando. However, the room was far from ready. It was dirty, with visible signs of neglect:
High-touch areas had smudges, resembling orange residue, likely from the previous guest's dirty hands.
The back of the bed was visibly dusty.
Candy was found behind chairs and doors, suggesting a lack of thorough cleaning.
The bathroom was not properly cleaned, and basic soap amenities were missing.
Delayed Resolution: After discovering these issues, my brother contacted the front desk to report the problems and requested to speak with a manager. It took five hours and multiple follow-ups before a manager finally reached out to address the situation.
By 7 PM, we were finally offered a clean room, and the manager arranged for our luggage to be moved. However, even this simple task was mishandled, with our luggage being sent to the wrong room, causing an additional 45-minute delay before we could finally settle in. After a long day of traveling, this was incredibly frustrating, especially when all we wanted was to relax and enjoy the resort.
A Pattern of Decline: This isn't the first time we've encountered issues like this at a Disney resort. Over the past few months, we’ve noticed a growing trend of lackluster maintenance and cleanliness across various Disney properties. For a brand known for its attention to detail and magical experiences, this ongoing decline is disappointing and disheartening.
Lack of Remediation: Despite the multiple issues and disruptions, no remediation or compensation was offered. We paid a premium for what was supposed to be a Disney-caliber experience but instead received the equivalent of an overpriced motel stay for the first day of our vacation. The lack of attention to basic housekeeping standards and the poor handling of the situation by management set a disappointing tone for the start of our trip.
Final Thoughts: Disney's Port Orleans Riverside failed to meet the expectations of a Disney resort, where cleanliness, guest experience, and service should always come first. This ongoing trend of neglect across Disney properties reflects poorly on the brand. While mistakes can happen, the slow response time, mishandling of luggage, and lack of resolution left us feeling undervalued as guests. We expected much more, especially given Disney’s reputation and the premium prices they charge.
Nice to finally stay inside the park which saved us daily parking fees and allowed us to access the parks earlier without any hassles and/or time constraints. These extra amenities like the several different pools to use till 10pm, parties, shops, sites and different scenes! It was an awesome experience for my family just wish Disney wasn't so steep in cost for everything :( aspecially for the Service members serving our country to keep everyone in Disney safe to enjoy their freedom without the total sacrifice they make every day without asking for anything in return. Thank you
