Best WLM Reviews

The Polynesian Resort at WDW has been on my bucket list for several years and after the remodel, it was time to take the grandkids. We booked two adjoining rooms and had 4 and 6 year old boys as part of our party. The rooms are exceptionally spacious and the storage areas are plentiful, particularly under bed suitcase storage. The check in process was quick, the grounds are very well maintained, and the rooms were well prepared and clean when we arrived. We were in a Water View level room, 2nd floor, Samoa Building. Excellent location as you are close to pools, beach, and the Great Ceremonial House with all the food and shops. Worth the upgrade price!||Housekeeping was good. They missed our room once but came back immediately when we called and cleaned it. They will not clean or enter if you are in the room so keep that in mind for the afternoon nap period. Pools were clean and lifeguards were always present. Chairs were a little short sometimes but we were always able to find some to move together. Splash pad area for very young ones was an excellent addition.||Front desk staff were very knowledgeable and able to help us with some Dining Plan issues and recommendations for a 2nd character meal for the grandkids. We never had difficulty locating a parking spot although they were sometimes a short walk of 200 yards.||Overall, a great experience and worth the dollars. I occasionally see where guests expect a 5 star experience for the amount of money - it is not a 5 star experience - it is Disney! You are paying for the convenience, theming, and resort experience. Our only "complaint" (other than having to leave and go back to work!) was that the steamers in the room simply do not work as well as irons for pressing clothes.
Overall, the Polynesian Resort was a nice place. The front desk concierge was nice and welcoming. When traveling as a person of color one must be mindful of out surrounding. We were just a handful. The restaurant in the hotel was sub par and definitely on the expensive side; and very very busy. The pool areas were nice and relaxing especially the oasis pool. The laundry room was cool; I washed my clothes before leaving the next day. They had many activities for kids; and you can definitely see the fire works from Magic Kingdom. Maneuvering around the hotel grounds was very confusing. The monorail ???? on the second floor will take you where you need to go. We took a boat to Disney World. It was a clean hotel but I personally would not stay here again.
The Poly has been my dream resort for a while. We stayed for 4 nights in the DVC section, Tokelau on the top floor, a studio closest to the lifts and stairs facing the quiet pool. I requested this location and was lucky enough to receive it. |I was so excited to get there, we'd been at Saratoga Springs for 10 nights prior (amazing stay) and we expected big things from the Polynesian. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the beautiful lobby and were gifted lei's which we all loved. ||We had to stand in the middle of the lobby and check in on a tablet with a cast member which took a while. I would have preferred to be at a desk where I could put my documents down and my luggage. |Never mind, we went excitedly through the beautiful grounds (and they are gorgeous) to our room and the disappointment was quite sudden. The lifts are dated. The room was big for a studio, and we appreciated the second shower area, but the room was dirty. I've stayed in all types of accommodation, but classing this as "deluxe" is a joke. There is nothing deluxe about the room at all. The resort itself, it the location and access to monorail is fabulous and I'd say it is a very high standard, probably deluxe, but not the rooms. The dark wood is chipped, the shower had a part of it that was so rusty it had fallen off into the shower tray, the dust and cobwebs were everywhere. It looked like no-one had been in this room for weeks. There was milk stains on the 5th sleeper unit and it generally felt very grotty. I'd have complained about it on I-drive! It obviously hadn't been deep cleaned in a while and certainly not even a quick clean prior to us checking in.||I rang down to ask that the room was cleaned whilst we were out that evening and it was, but by that point the excitement I'd felt had gone and I didn't have that feeling about the resort that I thought I would. In general, Disney's Mousekeeping service for DVC rooms isn't as good as the standard rooms because of the frequency that they service the rooms, but this was very disappointing.||The resort itself is beautiful though, I can't complain at all about that, the pools and lifeguards are fantastic, there's a nice atmosphere and it's very welcoming. We went in October 2023 and the Halloween trick or treat hunt was great. I loved being able to sit on the beach and I wished we'd done that more. ||Captain Cook's was a good quick service and the cast members, again were great.||Kona cafe was expensive, but nice food.||O'hana 100% lived up to my expectations and beyond. Amazing food, great servers, beautiful view. Would recommend. ||If the DVC rooms are refreshed/ refurbished we might go again, but we won't return again mid-refurb cycle.
I've stayed at all of the different Disney resorts over my life and the Poly is my absolute favorite. The rooms are spacious enough but you're never in there anyways. Great views of the fireworks from the beach and pool area. I had an amazing amazing dinner at Ohana this last trip. Didn't have time for breakfast this go around but it's my favorite breakfast in the whole world. I'm not even the biggest fan of Disney stuff but you can't not be happy and relaxed at the Polynesian. The staff is the nicest and most pleasant even when people are cranky and yelling at them about fake problems. The price has gone up too much for my budget. You need a group if you are a regular working class human to afford to stay there but it's worth not having the hassles of staying off property or at a lower end hotel there. Which those are all great too but you really feel like you're in a far away paradise here. Once night costs more money than I make in a whole week as a chef so I could never afford it alone. Universal gives you better perks for staying at their hotels like free fast pass and you don't get anything like that here and universal is cheaper and better for adults with no kids but Disney is more magical for sure.
Stayed here last week with my 3 kids plus an adjoining room for my parents. Great location on monorail, stayed close to ceremonial hut plus pool which was a bonus. Rooms were very spacious to accommodate 2 toddler inflatable beds with still enough room to move around. Food options are also great! Highly recommend!
My husband and I stayed at the Polynesian for 3 nights in the end of April with our son’s family, including a 3 and 6yo (their first visit). The timing of this visit was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We honeymooned at the Poly in 1974. Unfortunately, Disney Magic seems to be gone now (it certainly was for me). No “welcome home”, no happy anniversary greeting (unless you count the greeting on the room tv screen) and most importantly, our room request to not be near construction was not met. Our reservation was made about 9 months ahead of time. Lots of time for me to imagine the beautiful “resort view” we would enjoy. Our rooms were in the Aotearoa building, which I knew to be closest to the construction; however, I was assured we weren’t on the construction side of the building. It turns out there is construction on both sides of the building. I certainly didn’t expect this “resort” view. Based on our view this resort is dirty, poorly kept, and noisy. Our view was of a dead or dying tree, path or roadway construction (directly outside our room) and included a truck crew using jack hammers. They charge more for water view, why not less for construction views?||As for the positives… our room was nice with lots of space and storage and the bathroom and shower was great. We had a balcony, but considering the noise and view that was not enjoyable. The pool area and splash pad were fun for the kids; however the beach was over crowded in the evening for fireworks. ||All that to say, I sadly would not recommend staying at the Polynesian unless you can afford to upgrade yourself to a better than resort view.
We went here on our last day to eat breakfast before we flew out. We ate at Ohana and it was fantastic. Definitely will be going back when we visit again. Service was great. Five-star experience all day long.
What an incredible resort. It felt like a vacation in and of itself. The atmosphere, service, food, and location were all top notch. I can't imagine another Disney resort providing a better comprehensive experience.
