It was such an amazing experience staying at this resort. This atmosphere in every part of this property takes you back in time to the beginning of Disney. With that being said, the rooms are the same style but newly updated while keeping with the style. You’re located right on the lake, directly across from Magic Kingdom, so you have endless beautiful views from any of the buildings on the resort. The cast members are all super friendly and helpful for anything you could need. They have a few different food options from casual quick dining, to more fancy sit down dining and even a nice bar on the second floor of the main building.
I don’t have any other Disney resorts to compare it to, but my first and only visit was nothing short of extraordinary. Everything from the check-in process to room tidying up and towels shaped like animals when you get back. The grounds are exquisite, the dining options are amazing. The spa and wellness center was so wonderful to visit on the day that we checked out. A dip in the pool after a long hot day at the parks was a perfect way to end the day. Oh and if you’re too tired to go eat at a restaurant, the room service stays open late and is top notch. Can’t forget the fireworks every night at right about 9 o’clock. You can purchase certain rooms that give you views from your balcony.
Love the Grand Floridian, but its age is showing.
The rooms have been refurbished but not the main common area or the elevators.
The elevators are slow and just very messy almost dinghy as with the main common area. The couches and chairs on the main common look old and mis matched and even stained.
The pool area for sure needs a complete rehab and new lounge chairs.
It is still a very good hotel, in an absolutely fantastic location. You truly feel you're at Walt Disney World when staying at the Grand Floridian.
I would recommend it but it has its flaws. Don't set the bar so high that you'll be disappointed when you get here.
This resort is absolutely beautiful and so clean! They have the hardest working staff that I have ever seen. They were dusting the wrought iron fencing. The staff is extemely friendly and accommodating! This was literally the best experience I’ve ever had. It smells so good that I had to ask what scent that was lol then I bought candles and other items in the Basin on the 2nd floor. Make sure and wear comfortable shoes, it’s a huge resort.
This hotel is all about location. We did not pay as much as at busier times (and paid more to stay at the Yacht Club last year around the same time). That said, the location is amazing to Magic Kingdom (walk, monorail, or boat - especially the boat being not so crowded at the end of a long night) and very good to Epcot (2 stops to TTC there and 2 stops on the way back). I thought the room renovation was nice, but agree with other reviewers that for the price, they could have offered turn down service, and water or at least explained that tap was filtered. Gasparilla grill was great for mobile order but menu is limited and it got very crowded at key times as it is basically the only place to casually eat for the whole resort. The vanity was nice, though the shower/toilet area was small. We were kept up by the people above us walking around their room, likely a consequence of no longer having carpeting in the rooms (which otherwise I actually liked). We paid for a water view room as friends who did the same got lucky with view of fireworks. I would not pay that again as you can simply step outside briefly if you want to watch them, and the mosquitoes were ridiculous. ||We did not check in (went direct to room) and did not request anything during our stay, though it could’ve been done through an Alexa setup. The TV was a bit annoying. Why can’t you get a regular disney movie on demand! Though my daughter regressed and watched adorable old-school Mickey cartoons :) ||My only other complaint is the severe lack of shade/umbrellas at the pools - it was 97 degrees while we were there, and you could not walk barefoot by the pool as the cement was too hot … this was also the case when we stayed there 8 years ago - why not offer more options for shade at the pools? ||I liked our room location - Sago Bay - close to Gasparillas and the walk and boat, and convenient to Lyft/uber if you select the convention center. The stores are some of the nicest at any of the hotels (if you want to spend MORE money :) We easily went back to parks (EPCOT and MK) at night from this location (we came home mid day every day to rest and escape the heat), though I think I like the Yacht Club location even better because there is more to do at night. The major issue is - you can Uber/lyft to every other park- but MK not so much (well, it’s harder). So if you’re going to spend most of your time there, then monorail resort is super important. ||I found some of the mobile order staff super helpful and friendly. I got a package delivered there and I saw on the bill that they charged me $6 to receive it (though they told me I would only be charged if I had it delivered to my room). Overall, it was a pleasant tray - probably some of the nicest, prettiest rooms, and the resort has a relaxed vibe. ||Food wise, can’t recommend California Grill highly enough - it never disappoints! Space 220 was a fun experience, but the food was meh (maybe we didn’t order well). Yak and Yeti was surprisingly good.
We recently stayed at the Grand Floridian with a check in on Saturday, April 20th and check out on Sunday, April 21st. We had stayed at multiple Disney properties over the years, but never at the Grand Floridian. This hotel is supposed to be the top Disney World hotel on the property, with prices for rooms around $900 a night; comparable to a night at the Ritz or even the Four Seasons. Unfortunately, there was no comparison. ||We arrived early and had our luggage stored. Upon receipt of our room being ready at 3:00, we proceeded to our room. After 3 phone calls to the bell service and guest relations, we finally spoke to someone, who informed us that the wait time for luggage was anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. We proceeded to go back to the entrance of the hotel to retrieve our luggage ourselves. When we were getting acquainted with our room my husband called down to find out about water for the coffee machine in our room. He was informed that we needed to fill the coffee machine with the bathroom sink water. That is totally unacceptable again for a $900 a night room. We proceeded to the pool and waitied 45 minutes watching a server spend the time with one family and then disappeared. We ended up getting our own drinks. The next morning we proceeded to Citrius for breakfast. My husband ordered steak, over easy eggs and toast for a cost of $21.00. The breakfast arrived with one hard flat egg and an over easy egg, steak and no toast. It took about 10 minutes for us to notify someone, at which time I already had finished my breakfast and his was cold. ||We did speak to Vicky, a manager of the hotel about our concerns before we checked out. Again, this hotel does not reflect the service a guest should get at a premium hotel but that of a budget hotel. Even a Super 8 gives water for a coffee machine. As a Florida resident and a Disney stockholder, we were very disappointed and definitely not book this hotel again, when there are many better options. As of today it has been over 2 weeks and we still have not heard from anyone at Disney even though we emailed corporate customer service
My fiancé and I got the privilege of experiencing the Grand Floridian Spa last week. Upon entering the Grand Floridian resort, you take the first right hand turn. There is a parking lot right behind the building and a very short walk to the front entrance. We were pleasantly greeted by the front staff. Since we were getting a couples massage, they had us each pick a stone that called out to us and place it in a small greenhouse in the lobby. They explained which each stone we chose meant. My fiancé was a bit concerned because the day prior he had almost thrown his back out and was in quite a bit of pain. He didn't want to skip the massage, but he also didn't want his back to be more messed up because of one. We voiced our concerns about it, and they were very accommodating. They also added on a soothing balm service that he really enjoyed and said help with the pain of his lower back. He liked it so much, he wanted to purchase some, but sadly they didn't sell that particular product. Wendy and Robert were our masseuse, and they were amazing. They knew this was our very first massage ever, so they were especially excited for us. Throughout the massage they kept checking in to make sure the conditions were right and there weren't any issues with pressure, etc. I especially liked the use of hot towels throughout the process. I loved the other amenities that were included at the spa. They had a waiting area with spa water and a few light snacks to munch on. They also had a sauna, hot tub and heated lounge chairs to use. The locker room and bathroom were also fully stocked with towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, mouth wash, etc. When they give you the tour in the beginning, they make sure you know that should you need anything that you cannot find to please reach out. You are given a plush robe and slippers to use during your stay, as well. The service and amenities here were absolutely top notch. I don't have one negative thing to say about the space or my experience, in general. My fiancé and I have decided that every trip going forward is going to include time at the spa. I am so excited to continue to try more of what is offered at the spa.
Fantastic resort. We stayed in the club level. The concierge service is fantastic. The food is great. Soda water and beer is included with the suites. The people are so friendly and helpful. 4 restaurants on site. 2 pools and fireworks every night you can see from magic kingdom. Worth every penny.
