Best WLM Reviews

We had an amazing time and experience with our stay here. I had heard mixed reviews from family and friends that had stayed previous and I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the price tag, but it was worth every penny. Depending on your style of attending Disney this hotel has everything. If you’re going to spend all day at the park and rope drop this is it. If you’re going to spend half day and lounge by their incredible pools this is it. If you’re going to dine for the breakfast or drink and dinner at night this is it. You’re literally right in the middle of everything so after a long day at Disney you’re never too far from your room. We dined at the poolside outdoor restaurant for lunch and the nachos were perfect for the two of us. Our room was great, nothing too special but the bed was comfy and the shower stayed hot and that what I care about most. Having the director entrance to California adventure is awesome.
This is a jaw-droppingly stunnning resort. Based on Craftsman, Mission, and California Bungalow styles, you will find soaring spaces, colorful stained glass, epic use of wood, granite and marble throughout. We stayed six days and there is a serenity throughout. ||The cast members (staff) were faultlessly polite, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. For instance, a bell person saw us walking to our rooms and he smiled and said, ‘Welcome home.’ He had not brought our suitcases and we had never interacted with him, yet he reached out to us—an old lesbian couple and welcomed us. Wow. ||Our room was was great. We had a king accessible on the ground floor. It had plenty of room, blind wands, and a shower you could roll into, along with a heavy duty shower seat and wall shower wand for ease of cleaning, as well as an overhead rain shower, which could be on or off. We had a small porch with an accessible ramp, plus two chairs and a cafe table for outdoor meals. ||The restaurants were all great. The pool was enormous with lifeguards and a zillion loungers for your swimming and sun bathing pleasure. There was also an accessible pool arm lift for those with different mobility needs. ||I can’t rave any further. You will spend a lot here, but you will feel you got everything you deserve and more. Make happy memories with someone you love here.
If you have young kids and are on the fence on whether to stay “on property” at Disneyland or not—just do it! Yes, there are many accommodations close by but you can’t beat the convenience of just being able to walk so easily to Downtown Disney and both park entrances. When your children are just tired or 2 seconds away from a park meltdown it was great to be able to easily stroll back to the room for a nap for them and head out again later. |Grand Californian was a lovely hotel—they are busy but check-in was pleasant and we didn’t have any issues during our stay. The staff we encountered were all very helpful & friendly. |We opted last minute to upgrade to the club house level and although it was $$$ in the end we’re glad we did it. It enabled us to grab a quick breakfast so we could go straight to the parks early, access to watch fireworks on the veranda and conveniently stock up on snacks, fruit, pastries and other nibbles throughout the day and just make our lives easier by not stressing about food.|The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel is well maintained even with constant flow of bodies through the lobby level area. There’s a pool and spa on site although we didn’t utilize them since it was a short stay. Convenient shops and restaurants located downstairs as well. While it’s a pricey hotel it’s not a 5 star luxury resort—I wasn’t really expecting it to be. They know you’re here for the magic of Disneyland and they do a great job of making the stay easy for guests. Would come back!
Unfortunately did not have the greatest experience during my week stay. The value for what you get is lacking. Rooms are extremely dated for the price you pay. Paint chipping on the walls and stains on the walls of the bathroom. Would expect more luxury for this price range. For a Disney resort there is also minimal Disney themed things within the hotel. Felt just like an ordinary 3-3.5 star hotel. Definitely not a 5 star hotel. I travel on a frequent basis and figured I would try out their flagship hotel and just felt like the trip was lacking. Room safe did not work and took 5 calls and over 24 hrs for the issue to be resolved. Wait times at restaurants were long despite having a reservation and food quality was only okay. Tried the Napa Rose which is their fine dining restaurant and food was only okay. Had to send back the chicken dish due to it being extremely bland. Appetizers were good however. The main benefit of this resort is that it is directly attached to the downtown Disney district which is convenient for the park entries. Main lobby and pool area were nice but did not make up for other problems at the resort. For the price you pay here you may as well stay at the Ritz Carlton or Four seasons instead.
Did a family trip with my SIL and her 2 boys. What a fun experience this was. I've never stayed in a Disney property before, and I was impressed with the service. Everyone was so gracious and helpful. That is 1 thing that Disney does well. Service. We were made to feel special and our every need met. I do wish that I was told that there was a microwave on the floor in the ice room when I asked for a microwave. I was just told it was only for guests with special needs. Which I understand, but letting us know there was a communal one we could use could've been very helpful.
We love coming to this hotel. There is a great atmosphere here. In the lobby they have a TV playing Disney cartoons the kids can watch on little chairs and 2 little rocking chairs! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. The pool area is really nice. We love the Craftsman Grill food. I also really like the fact that there is an entrance directly into CA Adventure Park from the hotel. It makes it so easy.
Absolutely wonderful! We were hesitant that it wouldn't live up to the reputation or be worth the extra cost, but it definitely did! Best Hotel we've ever stayed at. The beds were incredibly comfortable, it was beautiful inside and out, the lobby is just gorgeous and even with a lot of families moving through the hotel it was still relaxing and not too noisy. The pools were fun and the Storytellers Character Breakfast is a MUST DO!
I booked a trip to Disneyland for my wife’s birthday. We are DVC members and have been to Disney World dozens of times, but this was our first trip to Disneyland. It’s been a longtime dream of mine to stay at the Grand Californian. I wanted the convenience of having our own entrance into the park and enjoy the luxury of a Disney resort. This hotel being the first Disney owned hotel in California and a DVC resort, it was truly special. The only hiccup was at check-in. We drive up, drop off our luggage, told we can valet the car for $70 or park across the street, the very busy Disneyland Drive. I can’t get in the lot, because it’s full, I circle around, talk to the guard who lets me in the lot and I find a spot. It’s a hike back to the gate and can’t get in because I don’t have a room key, you see, we haven’t checked in yet. They need to work out the kinks in the parking situation. Front desk staff were friendly and super helpful. The resort atmosphere is upscale even though the decor is outdoor wilderness themed. The central gathering area with its high beamed ceilings and large fireplace is impressive. They even had a piano player, like at Grand Floridian in Florida. The room was comfortable, we even had a small balcony that looked out over the pool. The decor was either dated or they were trying for retro chic. Judging by the lack of outlets for our devices, I’m going with outdated. We were surprised that so many of the common areas were open air, even the hallways and restaurants. We had a nice meal in the, historic game-room themed, Hearthstone Lodge that evening. In the morning we walked 5 minutes to the California Adventure private entrance. We had a great day in the parks, came back late and crashed in a comfortable bed. The next day we moved to the Disneyland Hotel, the friendly bell service took care of moving our bags for us. Overall, it was a nice stay, glad we finally made it to Disneyland and the Grand Californian.
