We arrived shortly after 5 PM on a Friday night, and our party of 7 was seated immediately. The service was friendly, helpful, and observant. Each staff member must be trained on situational awareness because they are so attentive to details. I noticed staff members keeping the buffet filled AND clean as well as maneuvering between so many people with care. They checked around corners for me as I was helping my toddler navigate through the rooms. Our table was frequently checked on, provided water, and cleared. ????
Enjoying the buffet’s variety was a huge blessing! I am so grateful to the chef’s who prepare so many different delicious dishes!! I skipped the foods that I typically make/cook at home and treated myself to the seasoned crab dishes, steamed shellfish, and fish of the day!

My favorites were the Norfolk special (mix of steamed seafood with sensational seasoning), oyster Rockefeller, and of course the never ending snow crab legs. The condiments for each are conveniently at the buffet as well. Everyone at our table enjoyed the fresh fruit afterwards. I definitely felt like a glutton after stuffing my stomach with so much scrumptious seafood. ????
My husband noted that the steak, brisket and ribs were heavily salted, so he may try ordering a Delmonico from the menu next time, which I learned about after we left. Perfect excuse to visit again! ????
$49.95 as of this post for the buffet. The staff was very attentive, Ben was our waiter. He was prompt on clearing dirty dishes, brought refilled our drinks without us asking, and he was friendly and professional. The building is huge inside! There are lots of large rooms and a beautiful bar. The food was very good. Please consider a 20% tip, even though it's a buffet. These folks really work hard so people can enjoy themselves. We were greeted with smiles and left with happy goodbyes. The only suggestion was to better ventilate. It was chilly outside and very stuffy inside.
My granddaughter wanted to celebrate her 11th birthday at this restaurant. The kids enjoyed the freedom of going to the buffet. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall, our experience was good.
The only con were the really skinny crab legs!
Once we got there we were led to the sitting area on the Star side where our drink orders were taken then we proceeded to the dining area to fill our plates. With a party of about 30 people our waitresses did phenomenal in keeping our drinks coming and table cleared. The ribs, salmon, and crab legs were so delicious. Mac, veggies, and roll did their job. Wish they had one in Florida.
My husband and I love this chain of seafood buffets, and this Virginia Beach location did not disappoint.
The atmosphere was inviting and as always, I love the nautical inspired decor. Our server was very friendly. We went on a Thursday night during dinner and though it was fairly busy, the staff kept the serving area clean and adequately stocked. None of the trays of food were empty while we were there.
Delicious food overall. The star of the show for us was the crab legs. The macaroni and cheese were very tasty too. The only part of the buffet that was just ok was the desert selection. Ther were cakes and puddings, but it would have been nice to have some ice cream.
We will be back for sure when we are in the area.
We are huge fans of this chain and va beach is always our favorite! The staff are so friendly and fun! Very attentive!! The food selection is huggeeee! Last night the salmon, Norfolk special and the crab legs were at the top of my list. I didn’t get any photos of food bc I was so excited but they have a massive salad and dessert bar and tons of fish and seafood items but also a lot of non seafood things to choose from! It is $50 a person and in my opinion worth every bit! See you next year!
I’ve been to Captain George’s multiple times, but this particular time I went for my birthday. The food was excellent as always. I’m allergic to shrimp so I was happy to find that they use separate steamers for the different types of shellfish and that the crab legs and shrimp were not located together (cross contamination). It is on the expensive side, but given the price of a pound of crab legs at a different restaurant, the all you can eat food is definitely worth the price.
Average quality buffet food, with large selection. Service and atmosphere were excellent . Around $50 per person which is not cheap, but competitive in today market
Pretty spacious and clean inside.plenty of parking spaces in a clean and well lit parking lot.
