Really cool atmosphere not nearly as long or crazy as Bourbon Street in New Orleans, but the same kind of feel. It’s not necessarily kid friendly but when I was there I saw a lot of police officers and police cars. There was definitely a heavy police presence which made me feel safe. Right at dark they started setting up gates and checkpoints at the end of the street for added security.
Sunday in May is a good time to visit Beale Street, especially if rain is on the horizon. Not much of a crowd, easy seating at BB King’s and the Ghost River Brewery. Music at both places was quite good, as was the food at BB King’s. Staff at every place we stopped was great, so we had fun and didn’t feel overwhelmed.
Very busy in the evening. Lots of places to eat and enjoy the music. An iconic street to visit! The A. Schwarb store is a fantastic shop to look around. Really authentic and as you'd imagine an old store to look. Great T-shirts too. The bikes are like nothing I've ever seen. Lights, roaring, and a sense of pride.

Very exciting. Lots of bars and music. The street is cordoned off to vehicle traffic. Full of people having a good time. Quite a few that are having an excess of a good time, ????. Street entertainment. Lots of police presence. If you go early you can enter without having to pay. At a certain time they start charging to enter $5 and you have to go through metal detectors for security.
Fun! Very lively but a little short. Nice shops, good drinks and entertainment. The night we went, there were displays of jeeps.
Such a great place to visit! Plenty of places to eat and shop. We were lucky they had a car show/meet when we were there.
Great place to hit up restaurants with good food and live music. I enjoyed several bars and restaurants. B B Kings Blues Club was good with hood live music and good food. There are numerous places to visit and enjoy music and food like the Hard Rock Cafe, Memphis Music Hall of Fame, Silky O'Sullivan's to name a few.
