I bought tickets to the Luau for May 11,2024||I am a Disney girl, we are a Disney family and have lived on the island for 4 years now and have been wanting to visit the Aulani to experience Disney's take on a Luau. I bought the tickets for myself and my two kids one age 30 and the other age 12 as a Mother's Day gift for myself. My 30 year old daughter and myself have been fortunate to go on two different Disney Cruises and we all have stayed at Disney World and have had awesome experiences. I was extremely disappointed in this experience and called Aulani and was told to reply here. The Disney experience to me has always been excellent, above and beyond. This Luau experience was very disappointing. From the beginning, the gift of the Kukui Nut Leis which were very basis (no disney logo or hype) to the pictures with the dancers the photographer did not even tell my son to smile (so we did not purchase a photo). To be honest with this being a Disney experience I expected to see Maui, Moana, Stitch, Lilo and all the Hawaii based characters. But there was no character presence other than to have Mickey on the Stage for maybe two minutes !!! As far as the food and drink, there was rum punch offered, no daiquiris, or shaved Ice. The meal and deserts were okay. But there were no souvenir cups or anything that would allow you to have something tangible showing you had this experience. We have been to other Luau's on the island an have seen far better shows. I absolutely love Disney and have never had a disappointing Disney experience until this. It very much lacked the Disney touch I was really surprised not to see the characters or any special Disney sparkle and fluff!!! Would not recommend this to anyone at $185.00 per person you can find a far better experience.
Aulani is a nice resort. Per usual, Disney service is the best. Staff seemed happy to be there and were very friendly and caring. We had multiple food allergies in our party and everyone went above and beyond to ensure we weren't exposed.
The spa is amazing. Hands down, it's one of the best I've ever been to. Don't miss the hydrotherapy garden. If they sold day tickets to it, I would have gone every day.
Skip the luau. Drinks are included but there isn't enough alcohol in the world to make the experience enjoyable. The Disney luau is boring, over priced, third rate dinner theater. The songs were made up and the dancing half-hearted. I couldn't blame the dancers since they were wearing velveteen dresses in 70% humidity. Come on, Disney. Do better.
We stayed at Aulani for 7 days!!! And it was worth every penny. Service is spectacular, such a warm feeling when you're there. The atmosphere is awesome. Food is resort price, so we did the dining experience once in every restaurant. We booked a one bedroom villa, which came with a full kitchen, so grocery shopping was done on the first day. This resort is a must visit for families. Will be coming back here again.
Family stayed here for a few night in December 2023 and we had such a fantastic stay. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are well appointed and spacious enough, the bed are comfortable, and the food in resort is some of the best in the area. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find out how many options were available to us when we told our servers about being gluten free, and how good the food and drinks were! The water park is a lot of fun and our 10 year old daughter loved playing in it everyday. The location is fantastic and I’d recommend that everyone make at least one trip over to the neighbouring paradise beach. Well worth it as we snorkelled with turtles all day the one day. The service at the hotel was fantastic, as you’d expect from Disney, all of the staff were very friendly, and we were well taken care of. Would highly recommend and were looking forward to returning!
Really beautiful grounds, and beautiful resort with fantastic rooms. But be aware that if you book a “standard” view, there is a good chance it will be a mostly blocked view. Our standard view room is mostly just looking at the side of a building (two stories up from lobby floor) for the next two weeks.????|So keep this in mind when booking!|On the positive side, since I now won’t spend the any of trip sitting on the porch enjoying the view, it will definitely encourage us to leave the resort a lot more and explore the rest of beautiful Oahu!
If you don’t have kids, this is probably not the place for you. With my family being vacation club members since 1994, we have stayed at many Disney properties. There always seemed to be some adult amenities around (even on the cruise ships), but not here. With the size of the property, I was pretty shocked to learn there was no adult pool. Finding a chair by the pool/beach was not as difficult as I thought it would be, but it does get crowed quickly. If you are picky about your location, you are probably going to want to go down early. Be prepared to be constantly avoiding families with strollers on every walking path. I know everyone is likely on vacation, but I’ve never come across such an oblivious group of people unaware of how they are blocking public paths and doorways.
If you want to escape to somewhere a bit more quiet, the Four Seasons is right next door with very nice bar facing the ocean, and a couple of very good restaurants. There are some very casual options at Aulani, but the nicer restaurants are all prix fixe, which doesn’t work for everyone. The Luau is definitely worth it for the show, which we really enjoyed. The food at the Luau was pretty good for buffet style, and there was an open bar. There are some good restaurants and shopping a short walk across the street (Monkey Pod is excellent).
This is a Disney resort, so everything is very well taken care of and the service is excellent. If you don’t mind all the children around (or you have young ones), it’s a great place to stay. Pools are nice, slides are fun, and beach is a protected lagoon style. If you prefer something a bit quieter with the same beach/location, you might want to splurge for the Four Seasons.
Beautiful as only Disney can do! Absolutely beautiful resort that is catered to families with kids. Many water activities for children and adults. Our room is very comfortable and the view is spectacular. You can purchase a drink cup for approximately $25 that you can refill your soft drinks as much as you want for your entire stay. Make sure to make your reservations for restaurants because they get quite busy. There is a nice little shopping center within walking distance if you need to pick up something special. This is first class all the way do be prepared.
Loved the atmosphere here. The hallways were nice and wide. It was easy to find food and snacks. we had lots of room in our 2 bedroom unit. we cooked our own breakfasts then bought food and snacks around the resort. Loved our refillable cups and popcorn!! Loved the desserts and baking snacks. Shaved ice was also a hit!
