I recently visited Arnie's Bakery in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I arrived to pick up a cake that was due two hours prior, but it was not ready when I got there. This delay was frustrating, especially since I had planned my day around the cake's availability.
On a positive note, the worker at the counter was very nice and helpful. However, the lady decorating the cake did not come across as friendly, and to make matters worse, the cake was very expensive and poorly decorated. While I appreciate the quality of their baked goods, timely service and attention to detail are essential. I hope they can improve on these aspects in the future.
I never usually leave negative reviews, but the quality of their cakes have gone downhill from when I grew up going here. I visited my family in GR and got one of these for chocolate cakes for my birthday. This particular one used to my favorite growing up. However, we all took a slice after singing and all thought the same thing...this hands down was one of the worst tasting, most dry cakes I have ever bought. What a waste of money... and a major disappointment. I seem to not be the only one who noticed their quality when south in recent years!
My family and I love Arnie’s. It’s a tradition to do a fun Friday treat. Besides the delicious snacks inside, they have made two amazing cakes for us. One was ducky theme for a baby shower and the other a first birthday lion cake! The waitresses are awesome and work so hard to give you a great experience. Look at the photos below for their creative and delicious treats!
They're cinnamon rolls are huge and delicious????, I always order coffee. They give a free donut with every coffee (cinnamon rolls do not count as donuts)
Love this bakery. Fresh bread ready to go, cupcakes ready for special treats in the grab and go freezer. Cakes too. They have amazing filled cakes, my favorite is the lemon filling. Fresh filled donuts tempt near checkout. Places to sit if you just want to meet up. Hearing friendly!
I love their Dutch Chocolate Torte so we made a special trip thinking we’d get lunch and get some cake. We were told the kitchen was being renovated so no lunch. Just a bit disappointed since the website advertises salads and sandwiches. We took the cake home and it was kind of dry. Seemed like maybe it had been in the freezer for awhile. I’ve always loved this place and was expecting more. Hopefully this was a one time experience and it will be better next time.
The picture shown is supposed to be the inner filling of the cake. There was none. The outside frosting was so thin you could see the actual cake in places around the outside. The cake itself was lopsided. The frosting left a gross film. Never again. Arnies is going downhill...and fast.
Stopped in here for some treats and breakfast. The people that work here are super sweet, and the desserts here are very tasty. Very well priced as well. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!
