Best WLM Reviews

I gave it a 4 because they have to work on their production line. It is impossible for it to take more than 15 minutes to serve 2 empanadas. I understand that the empanadas are made at the moment but it is a long wait time. The service of the person who served me was very kind and excellent. The empanadas were well made. The coffee did disappoint me... but in general the restaurant is good. Very clean and tidy. I really don't know if I will go back.
The food here is good but it’s just so expensive. I get the bowl, the beef is seasoned well, the beef empanadas are good, the chicken is fine. The green sauce is amazing! I’m giving a 2 star because one day, I just wanted a side of white rice and the container was so incredibly small, and I paid $4.50, literally almost $5 and it was such a small portion. I was very speechless. I didn’t think the portion was going to be so small. Because of this, I’m never going to purchase Arepa Zone with my own money again because I have to draw the line with the prices. Please, a side of rice for that size should be half the price. Charge $5 for the size of the black container.
Great food, my pabellón bowl meal is always amazing. I saw they had passion fruit juice, tamarindo juice and Malta! So I had to get them all because you rarely find these tropical drinks at other establishments.
First time I see a Venezuelan restaurant that actually gets it and offers samplers! Food was delicious, best empanadas that I've had since I left Venezuela. They also sell a few items which was great, the passion fruit marquesa was really good as well. I hope they expand to Toronto so I can try again.
This review is for 4.5 stars since for the most part we really enjoyed our meal here. The restaurant was busy even in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. The seating is in 3 main sections with tables in the front and back up some stairs and high top bar seating in the middle. There were a couple of families that basically took up most of the space in the front and back so we sat in the middle facing the food prep as you can tell from the videos. Not great not horrible. Service was pretty fast although not totally well organized. The arepas were delicious as was the horchata so so left happy. Especially liked the Reina pepada which has always been a favorite. Def a good place for a fast bite. Will go again.
I have nothing but good things to say about everything I ate here. The Washingtonian cachapa, the taqueños, the shrimp empanada, and the beef arepa were all great. The meats all had lots of flavor and were juicy and the fried items were all fried to perfection without being too greasy. Oh, and that garlic cilantro sauce they give you is absolutely bomb and I recommend you drench your food in it.
Service was fast, but some of the workers do not speak English very well, so be patient. One last thing to be wary of is that Venezuelans LOVE cheese, so expect an overload of it if you're not used to it!
We came in at dinner time on a Friday evening. We had a large party and were all able to sit together at bar type seating. I ordered the Pabellón arepa and a cheese empanada. Both were delicious but I especially loved the empanada. The creamy cilantro sauce that is served with both is to die for. I could drink it. Everyone in our party loved their food and commented on how they would absolutely come back. Food came out in a timely manner and portion sizes were great. I look forward to trying other menu items in the future.
The music was loud but they played one of my favorite songs - Coleccionista de Canciones so I can’t complain. There is a code for the bathroom so be sure to ask for that if you need to use it.
A little different than the harina pan arepas I'm used to but so tasty and filling. I got the meat trio and my brother got the veg trio - delicious! Good meat, sauce, texture, and favor combos. Small dining room, but very nice staff. You will not be disappointed! So amazed to find arepas this good in DC ????
