Best WLM Reviews

This is my kind of place, a small roadside joint. They always have the best food. We shared a two meat plate, and it was just right for us. A patron told us this was the best food around as we walked in the door. He wasn't lying.
We ordered the hot wings, pork sandwich, catfish and kids chicken. Overall was very mid in taste. We requested our sauce on the side and they didn't listen. We ordered 3 different drinks and received 3 sweet teas. Definitely not a great experience for our first Alabama food experience. Don't recommend.
An hour before closing, shop only allowed take out orders. Met with rude resistance from the employee taking the order. Ribs were covered in an overly vinegary sauce rather than BBQ sauce; wasn't given a choice. Attempted to confirm there were utensils included, subsequently misinformed and had nothing for the side orders. Ate the meal out of the Walmart parking lot next door. Overall miserable experience.
Had all of these awards on their wall for "best ribs". Whomever gave those awards needs to be investigated
Sometimes you have to spend 40$ to know which BBQ restaurant to never go to again you know what I mean? We ordered off grub hub and went to pick up- they said we didn’t get the order and we shouldn’t have ordered online… ok. We get to the house, pulled our food out and noticed we only got a small side of potato salad when we ordered a large (4$) ok… then we proceed to dig into the ribs. I have never in my life had ribs that were so dry, hard and flavorless in my life. I mean it was really bad. Some of them were inedible. On top of that they put 4 pieces of bread straight out the bag?? Tf?? The sauce was watered down to the point it wouldn’t stay on the ribs.
I am sorely disappointed. Hopefully you read the reviews like I didn’t do and save yourself a trip to this godforsaken BBQ joint.
When I entered the elderly gentleman that took my order looked like he wasn't having the best day and acted like it too but that didn't deter me . I ordered the catfish dinner with beans, greens with extra side of mac & cheese plus 6 wings . The food was great . The value was even better. If I'm close , I'm stopping !!
We were on our way to an Alabama football game and decided to stop here for a quick lunch to take with us. They took our order, and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes. The staff isn’t as friendly as most places we’ve been to, but the food makes up for it because the BBQ sandwiches was great!
To paraphrase Dickens, this, the 343rd stop on a BBQ adventure now spanning 35 states (the 10th stop in Alabama), is a tale of two restaurants. I came by for lunch, which turned into a 70 minute affair that felt much longer. Service was slow, and more than half the orders that came out of the kitchen in my presence were wrong. Believe me, if you order take out, you really want to check the order before you leave!
This is a shame because the price point here is excellent, and on the whole the food explains the lofty status the restaurant achieved in Southern Living's 2019 top fifty ranking of southern BBQ. $21.76 purchased a small rib plate (4 meaty bones with membrane intact and the tips uncut served wet) with sides of collard greens and fried okra, a small banana pudding, and a refillable soft drink (Pepsi products). The ribs were beautifully prepared, separating cleanly at the bite, with a light rub that did not overpower the great, moist flavor of the meat. The slightly sweet greens and pudding were also winners. Only the excessively salty okra disappointed. So, definitely worth the stop, but don't be on a tight schedule when you come here.
I used to like this place but at some point they started ruining some of their food. The greens are sweet with a weird flavor. They always miss at least one side. They stopped giving you cornbread with your greens or peas. They don't give you tarter sauce with your catfish. A small banana pudding is $1.75 and a large is $5.00 When you order the large you just get two smalls and last time it was all whipped topping this time it was all vanilla wafers.
