I have been on hold with Portsmouth hospital for almost a half hour with Portsmouth Hospital to find out why I’ve been waiting for three weeks to schedule a stress test! When I finally got thru they had no record of a referral from my primary care (resident) doctor at your office. I tried calling my PC doctor at Appledore just now and was on hold for over 18 minutes! I have s screen shot! When the person answered they said hello once or twice and then hung up on me!
I called back and then got the answering service who said they went to lunch. This is so frustrating and unacceptable!
This is not first time I’ve experienced excessively long hold times when I’ve tried to call the office. For the past couple years it has become the norm for this practice and the apologies I receive whenever I’ve mentioned it to the doctors and staff don’t seem to make the problem go away. In fact the waits seem to get longer. Over three weeks to make a patient wait for a stress test order is unconscionable! Although I truly appreciate the teaching aspect of this practice I’m considering looking for a new practice where I can count on having my annual physical with my own doctor once a year (Last year I was seen my a resident ) and an office that doesn’t have you on hold for over 15 minutes any time you call.
Really disappointed in this practice. I’ve been here for years and my provider has changed 3 times because they can’t seem to keep doctors in house. Everything was great until Tracy Meattey left.
To top it all off, refills take 2-3 days, the wait to speak with a representative is upwards of 30 minutes on any given day AND their online portal is always down. I don’t have the time and it is extremely exhausting to have to chase THEM around for medical stuff when I’m the patient.
Absolute waste.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. I had to call three times to get a call back. Each time they said that I would get a call back that day. Then finally I was told I need to come in for a visit so that I can get a referral for an MRI. This place has gone down hill. Theu use to be a good place. Just look at the most recent reviews.
I’ve been with Dr Palmer for a few years now. I’ve been extremely impressed from the get go! I have worked as a MOC in another organization. Therefore, I have been on both sides of the fence. Dr. Palmer and her staff have been nothing but phenomenal! Wait times are EXCELLENT, medications are filled in a timely manner, given all the shenanigans regarding prior Auth’s, communication between the office and the pharmacy is exceptional.
I am grateful I found these folks! Keep up the good work!
I recently had a visit, and a chat, with my new Dr. I had never met Dr. Woolever before, and was expecting the same caliber of physical that I had always experienced with Dr. James Barlow, and prior to that Dr. Steve Christo. I arrived at the office and was in a exam room at 10:30 am, Dr Woolever came in at about 10:45, and I am pretty darn sure I was out the door by 11:00 am, or a couple of minutes later. No bloodwork, I had to go get blood taken at the hospital a day or so later. I was not accustomed to such a short physical. I have been a patient at Appledore Medical for more years than I can remember. I am strongly considering going back to either Dr Barlo, or Dr Christo, at their current offices. Just wanted to voice my opinion after my visit. Thank you. Haig Zeytoonian.
Recently Dr. Eugenia Zeng ordered incorrect labs so I went and had blood drawn at Quest only to find out I needed to go back for a second blood draw to have the correct lab work performed. Now, because of the resident’s mistake, Quest is billing me $400 for the initial unnecessary lab work my insurance won’t cover. Appledore has entirely washed their hands of the issue.
Second, and a much larger issue, my daughter was admitted to a hospital for depression for ten days and this practice offered up their newly hired psychiatric team as we required a psychiatrist for medication oversight following her discharge from the hospital. The hospital had even coordinated with the practice to ensure there was no lapse in treatment. We arrived the day of our scheduled appointment and were told it was canceled because the residents do not treat patients under the age of 18. Now we were out of luck with maintaining her medications that were running out and they refused to see her. I was told by a nurse/manager? That if it was an emergency we should go to the ER. The absolute lack of professionalism, empathy or knowledge leans dangerously close to serious medical negligence.
I would never recommend this practice owned by a company clearly more concerned with profit than actually providing sound medical treatment.
Can’t not recommend this practice enough. As an existing patient with alcoholism I requested a med to help with cravings. They don’t want to fill it until I came in for a visit. I scheduled a visit for the following day but pleaded for help. None came. I spoke with the practice manager that had a chip on her shoulder from the word hello. These people don’t want to treat you they want billing codes for your insurance. I felt like she had a stigma for alcoholics as well. A disease is a disease.
Not good, lack of care is evident, can’t get in to see actual primary care and the people they have under them don’t care, didn’t even show up to my last appointment didn’t want to take more time off of work to get the same “ya I don’t know what the problem could be” for the 8th time in a row
