Applebees at 433 Earl Rd in Shelby, NC receives a 3-star rating from me. While there were some positive aspects to the dining experience, there were also several areas that left much to be desired.
One of the main drawbacks of this Applebees location is its outdated decor. The restaurant could benefit from major renovations to bring it up to date and create a more appealing atmosphere for diners. Additionally, the bathroom facilities could also use some attention and improvement.
On the positive side, the staff at Applebees was friendly and accommodating. Their pleasant demeanor and helpfulness played a significant role in preventing this review from being even lower in rating. Their positive attitude added a touch of warmth to the overall experience.
When it came to the food, the 2 for $28 menu items were the go-to choices. However, the presentation of the dishes seemed questionable, lacking attention to detail. The lukewarm temperature of the food was disappointing, as it did not meet the expected standard of being served hot.
One specific dish, the chicken Alfredo, lacked seasoning entirely, resulting in a bland and underwhelming taste. The cheese sticks were overcooked, which affected their texture and overall enjoyment.
Surprisingly, the house salad stood out as the best item on the table. It seemed to receive the most attention from the kitchen in terms of freshness and flavor. This was a redeeming aspect of the meal.
In terms of seating, the restaurant seemed to pack customers closely together, leaving the left side of the restaurant relatively empty. This arrangement didn't provide much privacy or a comfortable dining experience.
Unfortunately, the waitress did not provide any recommendations from the menu or suggest any cocktails. This lack of guidance made it difficult to navigate the options and choose the most satisfying meal and drink combinations.
Overall, if you find yourself in need of a quick meal and Applebees is your last resort, this location may suffice. However, considering the lukewarm food, lack of seasoning, and other shortcomings, I would not rank it high on my list of preferred dining options.
I made the decision to dine at this Applebees primarily because the parking lot was nearly empty. In hindsight, this should have given me pause and made me reconsider my choice. The lack of clientele is often an indication of the overall quality of the establishment.
I find it challenging to rate this Applebees location any higher than 3 stars. The friendly staff is commendable and helped elevate the score for this particular visit. However, taking into account the outdated decor, lukewarm food, lack of seasoning, and other issues, I would likely choose to pass on dining here again during future visits to town.
I enjoyed eating here. Our order was house salad, bourbon chicken, and salmon. The 3 of us enjoyed our meals. Also, the staff was absolutely 10/10. We do not deserve them. They were attentive, upbeat, patient while allowing us the space we needed. Super glad we went there and will definitely be back. Ps. Was also affordable
We visited this location for their Veteran's Day promotion. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter was friendly and professional. He did a great job. Or lunch arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. We thank Applebee's for honor the Vets. I don't live in Shelby, so I rarely have the opportunity to come to this restaurant, but given an option, I will visit Applebee's near my home town.
If I could leave less stars I would ... 12:30 on a Saturday in Shelby, there was 5 people in the bar and two tables sat.
We spent 10 minutes waiting for anyone in the restaurant, to even acknowledge the 8 people who walked in 4 in my party and two more party's of 2.
Finally a man lackadaisically saunters over to the door as slow as he can, to seat Us and then we wait.
No wait staff in sight for 10 minutes, no water, no attention from Anyone, the one server who comes to clear the next table and back to the kitchen she goes no word at all, we waited 20 minutes and left. ... The ceiling is covered in black mold and so sooooo disgusting and very unhealthy!
Absolutely The worst Applebee's we've ever been in, usually Applebee's is our go to. Also what a travesty... you raised the prices of all the food but did NOT elevate the service or the knowledge of the people you hire. This place needs people who actually WANT to do their job ...
Tell lil miss Blue eyeshadow she lost 4 tips today. Because 3 other parties walked out when We did. ... We went a block away to the IHOP!!! ZIKEAKA at the IHOP appreciated Us and we had drinks and a seat within 3 minutes!!!!
Won't be back to Shelby Applebee's ever.
This isn't the first experience like this at this very one.
My Dad, my son and I enjoyed a most delicious meal there in Shelby, NC. Our server, Rosetta W. was friendly, took our order and made sure our needs were met the entire time while dining there. We will definitely be back to eat here. ????
Once again Gloria has provided excellent service. My partner and I wanted to share a large salad so she brought it out already split in two bowls. That was very nice of her.
Server was very dull and did not even greet us; basically only spoke when spoken to. Three of us ordered dishes with chicken, and the taste/temperature of the meat varied with each dish. No consistency. Of the two desserts, one was great, while the other was severely undercooked.
It took 45 min to receive our food. The first waiter was in no rush to even get our drink order we waited 10 minutes at the table we were sat at then we moved to the bar. The bartender was amazing to say the least. Applebee's she deserves a raise she had been there since 7am and it was 9pm when we left. The food was not good at all but the drinks were good. All you could hear sitting at the bar was a lady in the back screaming at the wait staff and kitchen staff.
