Applebee's has been around forever. It doesn't stick out. When we're trying to decide where to eat, Applebee's is never in the running. It's more of a - stop in because it's right there - place. The food is always acceptable. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints. I guess "Not memorable" would be my take.
We decided to have dinner at Applebee's since we had coupons, and I wanted to acknowledge our waitress, Gracie! She was super nice and checked on us often, which I thought was a good thing. She was quick and very helpful. We loved her service!
We went here for a relaxing drink and were very pleased to arrive in time for Happy Hour with its reasonable prices, laid back atmosphere, and wonderful two team members who were always hopping to serve the guests and keep everyone happy. What made it extra pleasant was that one member was training the newer one with care and understanding, showing patience and good humor. I also appreciated that the decor included a nice nod to the region and neighborhood by including saguaros and by pics of Sun City West and Sun City Grand (the latter is now an antique since it's officially The Grand now). It's really nice when a chain restaurant makes an effort to look less generic!
The food was not very good, prices were not too bad. Next morning I felt kind of sick. I have only used the curbside here and only once. The food was ready when they said it would be and the one staff member I encountered was super friendly.
If I could give negative stars I would. My daughter and I decided to give this place another try. It's been a while since we were last here. It was never a bad experience here just never a good one either. Tonight shoved everything past bad and straight to terrible. We placed an online order for pick up. The pick up spots are hard to see and my daughter wasn't sure she was in the right spot so she just parked and went in to get the food. Our order was simple, chicken tenders with loaded garlic mashed potatoes and a Cesar salad (both of these side are an up charge of $3.99 each by the way). The other item The Neighborhood Burger with fries. The burger is supposed to be 2 patties, cheese, lettuce, pickle, and garlic mayo. We get our order and right away thing are wrong. We got waffel fries that no one ordered, no mashed potatoes and salad. Never mind the fact that their chicken tenders are nothing more than mid level frozen tenders that looked and tasted like they were thrown in the microwave until well done. We call the store and ask for a credit of these items. We were reluctantly given this. After hanging up with them we start to eat when my daughter opened her burger and found that she didn't get two beef patties. Instead, she got one very burnt patty cut in half and stacked on top of each other in a pathetic attempt to cover the fact that they screwed the order and had no intention on fixing it. The order wax to hold the lettuce and pickles. They burger had no lettuce but, the pickles were there and someone decided to just add onion (not on the burger to begin with), and no mayo! The halves of the burger fit perfectly together by the way. The receipt on the bag indicated that we told them correctly what we wanted and they chose to ignore that and give us whatever was sitting around in the kitchen. We call the store back. This time we requested a full refund. The manager (not sure what his name was) told us that's how the burger is supposed to look and tried to wiggle out of the s@!t show that was this "meal". I will post a few pics of what we got, go ahead and compare them to the actual menu items. The manager begrudgingly agreed to our money back. This is just....sad. It is Friday night I get they were busy. This wasn't bust, this was people who just didn't care. They knew that burger was wrong. They knew those tenders were stale and most likely sat under a heat lamp for way longer than they should have. Either no one checked to see what was being put in the bag or no one cared. A lousy burger made poorly, dry over cooked frozen chicken tenders and missing food cost us nearly $50.
I have no idea what has happened with Applebee's in recent years. We eat there a few times a year and I always order the same thing. Oriental chicken salad. Hubs ordered a side salad this time also. But the oriental chicken salad used to be twice the size. The salad I receieved today seems like maybe it was a lunch size or something. But 15 dollars for half the size?? Never again. And my husband's salad looked like someone was mad and just threw it all in the container. We don't eat out often as it tends to be expensive. But I was just so surprised at the small size of my salad for the same price as before !
This was truly disappointing after a long absence from visiting. Its worst than the last time. Don't understand what happen to this restaurant. It used to be very clean, the staff was very enthusiastic and on top of their game. The place looks run down. Its very filthy dirty tables , excessive debris on the floors. Dirty windows with smudges. Just dirty looking. The staff appears lazy. The bathrooms are disgusting. If the bathrooms are filthy I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. I don't know if the owner or franchise person in charge has knowledge of this. Maybe a surprise visit would be in order. Its to bad because this place was once a pleasurable place to enjoy dinner. This definitely was my last time at this location and I would not recommend it.
Thank you Eric and Rachel for making our dinning experience a favorable one. I needed a family style, yet fun restaurant to take my oarents who I hadn’t seen in years and you delivered. I appreciate the courtesy and quality of food, kuddos to the chefs. Thank you all. Great service, great food, great prices. Will definitely be back
