This is a nice Applebee’s. I went here for Thanksgiving and was satisfied with my experience. Since it was Thanksgiving, this Applebee’s had a limited menu of boneless wings and a few other items. I got a lemonade with no ice, which tasted good, and the boneless wings with extra hot buffalo sauce, which also tasted good. The bathroom here was quite clean. Unfortunately, these wings caused me to have to poop three times after eating them. I gave this Applebee’s five stars because it has nice wings and excellent service, with a very nice host and waitress.
I am sitting in Applebees in Salem Va. I’m just disgusted with the food, food portions, and quality. I ordered a full rack of ribs, with coleslaw and fries. I ordered appetizers chicken won ton tacos, bacon cheddar fries, also I ordered a full rack of ribs not spicy, fries, and coleslaw. My mother ordered a half rack of ribs with fries. Now we arrived at 6:15 and just got our food about 15 minutes ago. Never got the two appetizers. Only got the ribs and cold fries. The full rack was two bones bigger than the half rack. Applebees has the nerve to charge 24.99 for that pitiful (full rack) of ribs. No wonder they keep closing locations. They keep falsely saying about their portions. Not enough servers, can’t blame the servers they are trying to do the work of two-three servers. Now I do blame the cooks for putting out and not putting out hot food. If you love Applebees good for you. I use too but not anymore.
Extremely poor service. Waited approximately 30 minutes for someone to even ask to take our order. Waitresses walked past our table & never stopped to bring menus. I had to go find someone to take our order. Never received our appetizer or meal. After waiting about 40 minutes, we left & went to another restaurant. Will never go back to Applebee's again!
Update: the folks at Applebee’s in Salem reached out and asked to fix the issue. Seems they had some new staff that were learning the ropes and my slaw was put into the wrong sized container. They provided me with another order of the tacos either as a takeout order or at the restaurant. We were in Salem for an appointment, so we opted to stop and eat on our way home. They made me a beautiful order of tacos, but in their exuberance in getting them perfect they put too much of the sauce on and the tacos were swimming. They were extra spicy, but I was able to eat most of them after using a napkin to absorb some if the sauce. Since then I've picked up a few "to go" orders, asked for extra slaw and they have been perfection.

I picked up 2 of the Chicken Wonton Taco appetizers as a "to go" order on my way home. The order was ready on time and the lady who brought it curb-side was very nice. However, when I arrived home, I found that I had one tiny "to go" cup, only half full, in each of my tacos orders. That is about enough slaw for 1 of the 4 tacos and honestly its the slaw makes these tacos good. Extremely disappointing that I spent $22 on appetizers (and it wasn't during the half price appetizers timeframe) and the order wasn't complete like it should have been. You can see in the photos that the "to go" cup is the smallest they have and it's hardly half full.
Very good meal in this clean restaurant. Beautifully decorated and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Easy accessibility and plenty of parking.
Asia was amazing she made sure we had everything we ordered and didn’t miss a beat I would definitely recommend her every time me and my family go thank you Asia we will come visit you again
Service was exceptional, especially for a late night stop. Beer selection was OK. Food was good and presentation was able and beyond, especially with my strawberry salad and the strawberry display. Very nicely done.
Asia was so sweet and caring , made the best gin on the rocks I swear , but she’s very respectful I appreciate that alot
