Hadn't been to an Applebees in years. GREAT server, nice place. My sister loved her Quesadilla Burger.
I ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad - and there was nothing remotely "oriental" about it. No soy sauce, no ginger, a rather tasteless sauce. I thought it was a mistake so I asked for more "oriental" sauce and got more of the same stuff (and a .39 charge.)
Lots of chicken in the salad, it seemed fresh - but was overall disappointed.
Typical chain location with good tasting food. I had the cajun salmon which was good. Service, however, was outstanding. Alexa, our waitress, was a very warm, bubbly, and friendly person. She was a delight.
A friend and I went in for half priced apps a bit after 9p on 31 Aug 2024. We ordered a couple drinks, spinach artichoke dip, boneless wings, and wonton tacos. After eating the wonton tacos I looked down an saw a dead bug (roach?) in the sauce. Once discovered, we stopped eating, alerted management, paid and left.
To sit for 30 minutes after your scheduled time for a to-go order is absolutely atrocious, especially without the restaurant updating you that they were backed up. There were actually two other cars waiting for their food longer than the time given for us to pick up our food. It took 15 minutes to cancel the order inside the store because the female manager on duty didn't even know how to cancel it. My question is, if you're not trained to handle manager duties, then why are you in the role? Can't wait to speak with corporate office at 8am
I now know why Applebee's is shuttering restaurants. This Thanksgiving we decided to go out for dinner and found out the Gladstone Applebee's was going to open at 4pm. We arrived to find that there was a limited menu (we were fine with that considering the day) There were about 4-5 entrees available with a total of 4 sides available. Every entree came with either mashed potatoes and broccoli or it came with coleslaw and fries. I wanted to order ribs as one of their provided entree's but I hate coleslaw and fries and asked if I could substitute the potatoes and broccoli instead. The manager refused even after I offered to pay the difference to get them. So my plate of ribs arrived with slaw and cold fries which I didn't eat along with ribs that were at room temperature at best. I ended up paying for a meal I couldn't eat. I don't know how this can happen as the place was only at about 25% capacity with a lot of help around. At least the bartender was gracious.
I hope management is working on a better system for carside orders. This is NOT the staffs fault, but I placed a to go order and arrived around the time it was supposed to be ready. All the to go spots were full and I didn't mind waiting - but every time a spot cleared, someone cut me off and swiped in.. Eventually I called the phone number to let them know I was there but couldn't park in a designated spot. They did not ask for my name or anything, just said to come in. The kid at the front was new and had no idea what to do. Neither did his friend. At this point I did get annoyed and said "Can we just cancel my order?" because apparently it is impossible to actually pick it up!
A girl walking by apologized and asked me to sit down and she would ask for a rush on my food - I said no rush is needed, I understand you are busy, I understand there may be a wait - I'm literally just trying to find a way to tell you who I am and that I am here. Finally she went and told the kitchen my name, at which point they said my order had been done and sitting there already, and handed it right to me.
I don't know why this was so hard.
I am very sorry for the kids that I got testy with, I did apologize to them and I told them I knew it wasn't their fault - but it was crazy not being able to leave someone my name and get my food.
My wife and I ate here on a Tuesday it was burger day. She had Bourbon Street Mushroom Swiss burger and I had the Whole Lotta Bacon Burger. They both came with fries for $9.99 and they were wonderful. Our waitress Sofie was very nice, friendly and fast.
This is allegedly a Swiss Mushroom Burger - no mushrooms, cheddar cheese and tastes like cardboard. The waitress offered to “bring a side of mushrooms” …. Then 15 minutes later, the burger I ordered arrived (see 3rd picture) only there were barely any mushrooms. At least the 2nd burger wasn’t over cooked. I do wish I would have known they were bringing another so I wouldn’t have tried to choke down 2 dry, miserable bites of the first one.
