My wife and I used to eat at Applebee's with some frequency. But that was twelve to fifteen years ago, and since that time we have seen a continuing move away from customer service and quality in the products Applebee's sells.
A few years ago while on one of our regular trips to the Jasper, Indiana area to visit my wife's family, many of our regular restaurant locations were closed when we stopped to grab a late dinner. Not wanting fast food, we decided to stop at this Applebee's location on the North end of town. Our experience and continued experiences here have made this a regular stop for us.
We were greeted as we walked in the door by two young ladies who genuinely seemed to enjoy their job instead of the typical attitude displayed by so many service workers who seemed put out for having to look up from their phones. The entire server and bar staff were engaging, friendly, and helpful during our visit, and when we made a special order to accommodate my wife's dairy allergy, they took our requests seriously.
It is a very comfortable place to relax, unwind from the road, and enjoy a meal and cold beer before heading to our hotel for the night. The food has been excellent on each visit and prepared perfectly. Portion sizes are huge, so I usually order off the appetizer menu and have always left satisfied. My wife loves their Chicken Oriental Salad.
They also offer a full selection of ice-cold draft beers in either 16-ounce or 22-ounce glasses. A perfect treat to finish out a long day traveling. We will return here as long as they continue to offer the service and quality they do.
We were there on Veterans day evening. It was busy, but we were seated very quickly( party of 6). Waitress was efficient and attentive to our needs. As always food was Great and the lava cake was delicious!
Steaks are nothing but gristle. Really awful quality of meat. Steaks are best avoided from here. They just serve inedible gristle which was underdone when I got it.
I went with my wife to eat at this place and it was the worst, they sat me at a table where they didn't even serve me, the waitress that served us only spoke to one person at the bar, it took her 10 minutes to take the order, she kept talking at the bar, the food arrived and she still hadn't brought down the drink we had ordered, she brought us the drink 5 minutes later, she kept talking and never came to the table to say if we wanted anything, this place is kind of deserted. After we finished eating my wife wanted dessert, and the girl never asked us if we wanted dessert, she just brought us the bill, it's unbelievable, it was a terrible night. The manager needs to have a meeting because the employees are not giving good customer service. I hope that place gets better because the ones in Florida are not like that.

Tuesday night around 8 pm, and we were the only ones there. The food was the best thing, and it was not spectacular. Hot plates, warm food
Menu says 2 for $22. When the bill came, it says 2 for $29. I asked the waiter/manager, and he came back with another ticket and said he took off $4??? That makes it 2 for $25 now.
I did go to public school in Kentucky, but what kind of math do they teach in Indiana?
It didn't matter to me. The original bill was $38 and change, with the $4 off, the bill was $34 and change. It should have $31. I gave them $40 and told them to take the waitresses tip from that. I was going to do that anyway, but she is the one who overcharged me. Her loss and the restaurants, because I will not be back.
It looks like I wasn't the only one who had a problem with the amount of business they had.
Our server was horrible, she was too busy chatting with 1 table. She obviously forgot to put in our appetizer. She wasn’t busy, at all. Food was horrible and way overpriced for the quality. My sister is special needs and trying to keep her calm when her food wasn’t cooked well done and our appetizer never came, was hard. I will never go back. I’ll keep my business at Ohana where the food is good and great service.
Got the the chicken scampi on a sizzling skillet. Only thing that was hot was the skillet and whatever was touching it everything else tasted like it got microwaved to Luke warm. Food was fast had it within 5 minutes of ordering so I guess it was sitting back there. Wife had a good salad though. Do not recommend
Exceptionally good service and the best food that I've been served at an Applebee's. Whatever they are doing at other Applebee's should take notice on what this place is doing better. Our onion rings were perfectly cooked, hot and crispy. My Asian chicken strip salad was very good. The server really went out of her way. She suggested money saving combo's and gave us each a new tea in a cup for the road. We tipper very well!
