I stayed for 2 nights on a 6-bed female room, and my experience was great. The bed was comfortable, the lockers in the room are super spacious, the kitchen was awesome as well as the common area. I loved that the toilets and the showers were separate, and specially for the showers to have a double curtain. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I really enjoyed the location it’s at.
Standard accommodations and good for the money. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the shared amenities were nice. Never felt an issue with safety or cleanliness. Pretty basic bunks that get the job done for a good night's sleep. My only issue was having to drag my luggage upstairs.
Apple Hostels of Philly does an amazing job of offering affordable, convenient, and clean accommodations to those visiting the city on a budget. The people staffing the front desk were attentive and available. I stayed in an 18-bed female dorm room, which was well-kept and tidy for accommodating such a large amount of people nightly. The sheets, pillows, and mattress were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was also very clean and well-stocked. I enjoyed using the quiet common room, but there was also the opportunity to use the main common room/kitchen for socializing. The secure luggage storage made it easy for me to check in, drop off my stuff, and go about my business for the day before my bed was ready in the evening.
A few recommendations for those visiting this hostel: Bank Street did seem to have some shady characters (this is just a fact of having a location in the heart of a city, and I don't think this should deter anyone from coming to Apple Hostels as I felt very safe and secure once inside), so I would recommend accessing the hostel from Chestnut rather than from Market since it's a shorter walk down Bank Street. Second, bring or ask for ear plugs (offered at front desk) if you are staying in a shared room. You can't expect to have perfect silence in a dorm room. Lastly, bring your own lock if you would like to take advantage of the lockers available outside of the dorm rooms.
Apple hostels is a great place for socializing and meeting new people. Happy hour every night at 9 (free drinks) and the location is surrounding by bars and restaurants.
Rooms are good enough, each bed has a shelf and charging area for your devices, although they were bit creaky.
The place where apple hostels really shines through is it staff and atmosphere. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful for local recommendations and the common room/kitchen is always quite vibrant.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend to any solo travellers looking to meet some new people.
Finally a hostel that's actually made for sleeping ???? I was hesitant to book the 16 bed dorm but I slept better than in some 6 bed ones. The beds were positioned far enough from each other there was room for everyone's luggage and personal space, with the curtains giving privacy. There's a small shelf, a lamp and a soccer next to each bed. The bed and pillow were comfy, sheets clean, blanket warm. Thanks to carpeted floors and slowly closing doors, you could go to the bathroom at night without waking others.
The bathrooms need a little freshening but the toilets and showers were cleaning. Would recommend!
Very nice hostel with friendly people. It’s nice that they organize things in the main room so you can meet other people and chat! It was clean in the common rooms and in the bathrooms. I loved that they played the radio in the showers/ bathroom 24/7 gives a homey vibe!
I stayed at this place this recent weekend because I have a friend that is visiting Philly from Chicago (I’m coming from NJ so we decided to meet here)|-I had never stayed in a place like this before and coming from a person who also has social anxiety, I can recommend Apple Hostels 100% !|The staff is very friendly and helped with directions to places to go in the area (which help me with my anxiety)… I stayed in the 4 ladies room. Everyone was friendly and we had no issues.
Excellent experience. The dorm rooms, the bathrooms, and common rooms were clean and bright. Staff were friendly and helpful. Michael suggested a cafe for breakfast that was around the corner, with fair prices, and delicious food. Isaiah C. helped me find bus and train stops. I felt safe and cared for at Apple Hostel. The location is central for the historic sites, Old City vibes, and moderately priced restaurants. I expect to book here again.
